Guacamelee is on price reduction at the moment, so I recommend checking it out. In my opinion, it is one of the best indie games of this year. It is also available on Steam now too (and has been for a few months now I think), so have a look. :)

Not really; Nintendo had a greater presence in Europe than Sega did during that time, or at least in the UK. It was close, though Nintendo outpaced Sega by far with advertising. Then, a wild Playstation appeared, and everything it did was super-effective.

I think perhaps that where you are saying 'official', what you really mean is 'original'. In that case, you would be looking for the series 'Tenchi Muyo'. Search for that phrase on enough online retailer websites ([mod edit :P]) and you'll find the series you seek.
