Aaaaand, in a bizarre whirlwind of deja vu... everything's all gone wonky again.
For folks not in the know, Youtube recently published a policy update which effectively says 'if you don't have 1,000 subscribers, we ain't payin' you jack.'
So, as much as some of you may have already surmised...
Just in case folks missed it, yesterday's MVM Deal of the Week was The Eccentric Family on DVD.
For £9.99, that's a goood way to check out an interesting little show.
Oh, don't misunderstand me here, Lemon. You've not said anything wrong at all. And your perspective is really useful!
My take on this stuff is, yes, I personally find it VERY irritating, because that spit second the notes appear for on screen s enough for me to break the flow of whatever I'm...
This is entirely acceptable reasoning.
This part, not so much. Most definitely, we're talking about a matter of personal preference and tolerance. For me, having any text visible on screen at all kind of defeats the point of the dub.
Aaaand, that's torn it. Nobunaga the Fool just got kicked to the back-burner over this.
Episode 4 featured THE most pointless and annoying instance of this problem so far. During the engagement party scene near the end of the episode, Nobunaga's bride to be says "It's time to bis the bride!"...
Agh - man. In my line of work, every once in a while, I'll be asked to format pages to those dimensions. The number of folks who ask for it and think all comic books are presented at that aspect ratio is quite surprising.
Some days, I really wish comics could get their own dedicated e-reader...
Thanks for the replies, everybody. This is useful.
As you'll see, I've added a new option to the poll. If that more accurately describes how anybody feels about these on-screen notes, then PLEASE do change your vote to reflect that. Any information I can glean about how fans feel about this is...
Okay - I've just finished my first late night anime marathon in a LONG while, and I've spotted something on the discs I watched tonight that I think bears a bit of discussion. Please note: as this is a subject that speaks directly to what seems to have become one distributor's practice, that's...
Argh! I feel your pain. If there's one thing you can rely on, it's that any lengthy manga series will have at least one insanely tricky to find / ludicrously overpriced volume. It's EXACTLY that kind f thing that's deterred me fromchecking out things like Berserk and Battle Angel Alita.
Waaaayyy back in the mists of time (or more accurately, a few months back) I downloaded the PS4 version of the 2014 Strider remake.
I played through it over the last few days, and loved EVERY minute of it. Excellent presentation, exciting gameplay, a cohesive story (something Strider games have...
I believe Discotek have been assked about this at conventions, and their reply has basically been that their Blu Rays are region locked at the specific request of their licensors. The multi-region shenanigans begin and end with their DVD releases, alas.
I think the key is, you've really got to make sure you're enjoying what you're watching. Or what's the pont?
Personally, I've just come out of a long period of not being especcially fussed with anime. Or ANYTHING, really. I've been overworked, which has knackered me out to the point that I...
I'm personally a good deal more optimistic than that. I mean, I fully expect Sony to cherry pick the big titles to put out themselves. But I wouldn't be surprised if other Funimation shows didn't find their way into the UK market by some means or another.
I used to tell people I couldn't remember what I was doing when I was 20. Now I say that about 30. 40 comes up awful fast. Dammit - my hip went as I was posting this. And everything costs more than it used to. Things were better when everything was fields. Never in my day! I didn't fight in two...
Sometimes it's no bad thing. I usually watch anime in blocks of just a couple of episodes per sitting. I might be watching two or three shows at any given time, though. It depends on how much free time I have, and how enthusiastic I might be for a particular show.
Sometimes, this gives me a...
While you guys were talking about ways you'd indulge yourselves with substantial amounts of money, I went ahead and won the lottery. The orphanage is doing well, and I'm beloved of vulnerable kids the world o'er.
I also had a fair wodge left over. Enough for a comfy retirement and a few...
Its an interesting situation we're in with this, no doubt. In fact, I expect there's still a lot of room for speculation / clarification (if relevant parties feel inclined to offer it) as to what Sony's distribution of anime in the UK will mean over time.
I think we're headed into strange...
