Makoto Shinkai's Your Name (Kimi no Na wa.) popped up on UK Theatrical Screens for 24th November

I think the part I liked best about the film was the way the characters were able to grow by learning about different perspectives and meeting new people. I think the process of learning about another person indirectly probably encourages a bit more thought and consideration, which could lead...

As nice as that Gochiusa cover is, it desperately needs more Syaro.

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Sci-Fi is an odd one to pronounce anyway, if the "Fi" is short for Fiction then you might think it should be pronounced the same way as Fiction starts but I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone actually pronounce it that way. SyFy, I'd probably go with something along the lines of "see-fee"...

    Crunchyroll: The Anime Awards 2016

Ooh, I've been summoned. Funny timing, considering I haven't been on for a couple of weeks and happened to log in now. I hope I don't make anyone feel bad though. I've ended up not watching many new shows this year, there often seemed to be something getting in the way. Part of that has been...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

I have to admit, while I expect I'll like the film I can't say it's the highest on the list of things I'm looking forward to. I kind of feel bad to say, since I feel like I may have been responsible for any trouble in the thread (I'd stand by my comments, although I wonder if I could have...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

Even with the promise, I don't think the 6 month delay would be considered an essential part of the contract. Anime Limited could still fulfil the orders for backers then have the general release be less than 6 months without actually cheating anyone. Thinking about it, you mentioned that the...

    Overseas Rightstuf Xmas Sale 2016

Usagi Drop / Bunny Drop is a brilliant show, well worth paying $40 (plus postage and VAT) for. The standard release is very barebones though, so it's a shame the price is high relative to similar releases. MVM did release a DVD of the show but it's worth getting the Blu-ray version. I'm...

    Your viewing journal

It's certainly a great show. It seems that people often avoid shows that they think might be slow but sometimes it's less about being fast or slow paced and more about getting the pacing just right for the story and atmosphere. That doesn't necessarily mean that everyone would enjoy it but...

Rail Wars was that anime about Death Star safety, right?

    What Games Are You Playing?

The PS4 version of Skyrim was on sale, so I gave in. I already have two characters (both low level), one is an Archer that will probably join the Dawnguard for those cool crossbows and the other is an Assassin who kills people with professional wrestling. It's a shame that unarmed isn't a...

Pokemon OT: For all your Pokemon needs

They even have story in Pokemon games? It's a shame that they don't really make the games for the non-portable consoles.

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

Being irrational and unreasonable isn't inherently a problem. The problem is that the irrational and unreasonable attitude in question includes demanding that others miss out without any measureable gain for anyone. It's basically asking that others should miss out because it makes the...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

There were a few similar comments so I'm just picking out one. I'm still not seeing how other people not having access to the release is a benefit to backers. Whether someone else has the release or not doesn't really have anything to do with you, it doesn't affect your copy and you're still...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

Wouldn't $55 have been around £35 at the time? That's probably closer to an Ultimate Edition film price but the release doesn't seem too far off of what you'd expect from an Ultimate Edition. I'm not going to complain if the same release ends up on an early bird deal for £25, but I'm not sure...

    Overseas Rightstuf Xmas Sale 2016

I quite liked Denki-Gai but I'd probably only really consider the bundle if it was about $100 less. The Aoi Hana / Sweet Blue Flowers manga is apparently getting a new/proper English release next year, so maybe there'll also be a Blu-ray release at some point. I'm going to hope there is...

UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

I'm curious about the pre-order offers too, I'm wondering if they'll be standard "early-bird" deals or if they'll be "extra-special" deals with bigger discounts than usual. I'm also wondering if they'll do a pre-order offer for the Nichijou Collector's Edition... Or the Kinmoza Ultimate Edition.

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

I suppose that's pretty much what I expected. The point about not wanting to go back on a promise makes sense, although I think there are times when it's better to be willing to go back on your word if it means choosing a "lesser evil" (so to speak). The issue for me, really, is that I feel...

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I watched Blood Blockade Battlefront the other day and enjoyed it quite a bit, so it's good to hear that it's getting another season. The staff changes are odd but I'd be willing to give it a chance. I'll probably try to find time to post something about the show soon, because I thought it was...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

I think it's the sort of thing that Anime Limited might be inclined to own up to if it was them, although they might be less keen to comment if it's the Japanese side that is enforcing the delay (so silence wouldn't necessarily help). Looking back at some comments, it's possible that the only...

    Mai Mai Miracle is done (February 4th 2014 - December 1st 2016)

In this case there is a chance that it's Anime Limited delaying the general release since they kind of agreed to do so in advance (though maybe it was just always part of the deal). It'd be nice to have confirmation on that either way, though.
