You might try a branch of Richer Sounds (or seek them out online). They're very good at shifting stock about too, so if you have a local branch which doesn't have what you're after they can grab it from another without any hassle! They've been good to me and many people I know over the years :)
Steins Gate - I'll give this 8/10!
No spoilers, but I loved the characters and the general construction of the plot and twists. Roll on the movie (when the DVD finally hits the UK shores..) :)
I'd say that Makoto Shinkai's work isn't for everyone. It really depends what you might take from any film, not just anime - since we often take great pains to explain to those who know nothing of anime that they AREN'T cartoons, and they do embrace more than is often perceived by those who...
Right.. It's the UK boxset of Lain that I have, but it was odd that of the three sets I worked my way though the first two had the same issue of discs 2 and 4 not playing. I'm assuming that third time I managed to get a set with either some silent corrective work or a better run of discs (!?)...
Haha.. worry not! Cheers for the heads up on some more titles! Trailers are a big boon as well - I neglected to add that side of things din't I!? haha.. ooops! No matter.
I think Journey To Agartha is probably the most polarising one in Makoto's portfolio to date, although I know that some...
I suspect there's more out there than I can possibly get my hands on.. I am definitely enjoying the anime I DO have though, and Crunchyroll is fab for generally having a random dip! Without it I'd probably have missed out on quite a lot so far, never mind what's yet to come!
Gargantia was...
Hehe.. I neglected to put Gurren Lagann and Steins Gate on there - both of which I do have.. I watched some of both quite recently again! Very good!! :) I'm looking forwards to the UK release of the recent Steins Gate film.. (another one to tag on the "finger drumming" watch list..). It's a...
I was recently asked by bakum4tsu about my choice of anime, and as I considered my response I stepped back further to consider what qualifies “good”, and further realised that this might be an interesting point with which to launch a little thread.
Whenever I look to an anime and make a choice...
Hmm.. I could give you that list by title bakum4tsu, but my general rule of thumb for picking them is whether they have that certain something in the premise, or you know you'll likely get a certain something from the artists in question. When you get a Ghibli film you know pretty much what...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but since it's viewing related - has anyone made it through TECHNOLYZE? I've been curious but also warned that it's relentlessly grim.. Is it that bad?
At the moment I'm working my way through series 2 of The World God Only Knows.. I must...
Personally I feel happier sticking with the sub version.. The Japanese voice just has that tone and gravitas which never quite seems to cut it with dub, though I do curiously enough watch Kiki's Delivery Service in dub.. Hmmmm.. Lol.. I guess if you get it direct though it's a forced thing, or...
Re: Anime that is Cut in the UK... The definitive thread.
I purchased the R1 re-issue of Gunbuster after learning that it derived from the original masters and not that god awful VHS stock which the R2 disc laboured under, and was pleased to find (beyond the better quality) that the episode 2...
Get that second series finished!!! Haha.. I have to agree that for a niche market such as anime we don't do too bad, particularly when faced with the cost of the imported stuff, but I've also got lucky from time to time (Kenji Kawai's live symphony in the bag for £17 second hand pristine, as...
Heheheh they probably will sell them separately, and I agree about the ****** UK industry. It's just a personal preference for myself when considering what to look at. I mentioned before that pre-film Evangelion looked like a good series, but at about £15 per disc and about a million discs for...
I agree.. A much better way to acquire your anime, so long as they're reasonably priced.. (this is why I regret missing grabbing a new copy of Planetes and why I'm glad I got Gurren Lagann when I did. This always makes me think a few times before deciding "later..")
Yeah, this could similarly be right - Am I right in thinking that there are just four 1 hour (or so) episodes, or did I dream that bit? It would make sense that they'd finish the thing as a boxset before packaging and distributing!
