Semi Finals - Battle Three: Ichigo vs Guts

I can just picture them fighting now; Ichigo tries to slash Guts after releasing Ban Kai, but Guts blocks Zangetsu and it shatters. ;p Ichigo is strong, but anyone who's seen or read Berserk will know that Guts is probably in all of anime the most devastatingly skilled, strong and agile...

Semi Finals - Battle Three: Ichigo vs Guts

I think you'd find that Guts could easily skin Renji alive while fighting Ichigo, Yamamoto, Byakuya and Ishida at the same time. And win.

Big anime projects on the horizon

I'm not that excited about Ghibli, because it's highly likely that whatever they release will be very good, but Oshii's simple romantic idea will be interesting, even if just to see how he deals with creating such a straight foward feature. Mushishi has been very good so far, so I'm looking...

    Opinions on these series please...

Haibane Renmei is a series I'd certainly highly recommend, especially if you enjoy quiet, thoughtful series, of the style Abe specializes in; out of the selections you list, i'd recommend this the most. Blue Gender I haven't seen, but I'm certainly going to watch after the Halloween article...

Semi Finals - Battle Three: Ichigo vs Guts

Guts, likewise. Although Bleach is an exciting series based on a great manga, Berserk has to be, in my opinion, one of the most powerful series of all time, purely based on how much depth is given to the cast, especially Guts himself. Oh yes, and there is the sword, as Mangaminx says.

    Mai-Otome

I'll back up Mangaminx here; we've seen with Akane and Nina that not all the characters are lesbians. To me it appears that the Otome rules are meant to keep virginity or maidenhood, which in Western culture at least is closely linked to the idea of purity. It's the same as a nun swearing a...

Necromancer has come to raise the dead!!!!!!!

Welcome back Necro! Glad you're back online after a few days of missing you. I don't think I've logged in since last New Year's Eve. ;p

    Soul Calibur III

Sounds great Neptune, glad you've got yours today, *grrrrr* I've got my fingers crossed for tomorrow. In Soul Calibur II Raphael became my favourite character to use because of his quick, mid-range strikes. Before that, though, it was Cervantes all the way - his impaling throws are always...

    Blood +

Scarily, I've become so addicted to the opening song that after watching an episode I jump to the start and listen to the opening again, and I've got it on mp3 - I don't listen to much anime music, and the pop-rock of Blood+ isn't something I'd listen to otherwise. I can't really decide what is...

    Mai-Otome

It seems the series is caught in a pattern of action-comedy-action-comedy, with plot and character development sprinkled here and there. I enjoyed episode four, although I wish Shizuru's fighting scenes were expanded after the brief glimpse of last episode. Is it just me, or is the Otome...

    Blood +

I already enjoyed the series immensley, but I have to agree with you completely here. Action before this episode did seem to be pushed to the side, although I perhaps enjoy character development more. The storyline really has potential, and hopefully it will work over forty-eight more episodes.

    Soul Calibur III

My excitement is rocketing, as various forum members will tell you, although I fear Neptune2venus/Cassandra is the most excited of all. ;) I can't wait for another batch of sublime duels with such endearing personalities as Cervantes, Nightmare, Raphael and Ivy, although apart from Setsuka...

    Funimation license Negima

I think the idea is that they all have some particular quirk. There's the main "Naru," a vampire, a ghost, a robot...it's certainly more expansive than a typical harem series. It's the sort of series that Mangaminx would love to burn. ;)

    Funimation license Negima

Negima seems a bit more disturbing, especially when you consider that the thirty+ strong harem consists of young, or at least young-looking, schoolgirls. I'm going to stay away from it, myself.

Semi Finals - Battle Two: Yomiko vs. Osaka

I voted Yomiko, because I'm a huge fan of Read Or Die, and Yomiko is one of my favourite characters in anime.

Semi Finals - Battle Two: Yomiko vs. Osaka

So, Spike Speigal is going through to the three-way showdown, but who shall be his opponents? This week, slogging each other for the honour we have the vivicious line-up of the ever-victorious Osaka fighting a slightly less clueless Yomiko Readman. Good luck to both competitors. Remember to...

    Noein

Art shows both of them with something of an equal coverage. ;) I like both of them, but I'm already a fan of Yuu. I'm really enjoying this show. Did anyone notice the different in character design compared to the first episode? It seemed to have a more detailed style here.

    Blood +

My favourite episode so far, I have to say, since here we could finally see Saya, George, David, Kai and the ever-impressive Hagi in the same scene; next episode we will hopefully see these characters interact. The episode was very good at balancing action and drama.
