Anime at the cinema

Finished watching Chainsaw Man Reze Arc in IMAX about 50 minutes ago... What a film. I had already read that part of the Manga so I've been looking forward to this for ages and I wasn't let down 😁. Sadly someone left the subtitles for the subbed version in despite the showing being dubbed so I had to try and ignore them for the whole film. I told staff but sadly nothing was done (or could be done?). I also heard people complaining as I left. Still amazing though, phenominal animation and the music was great.

Chainsaw Man has been showing nonstop at my local theater for the past few weeks and I've resisted going to see it mainly because I watched a few episodes of the tv series and hated it, Caveat Emptor I guess.

My crummy local cinema finally got Chainsaw Man - guess I'm going to see it after all! It never shows anime for some reason and I couldn't be bothered to hike all the way into London yet again after Demon Slayer and Conan. Today's first screening looks as though it's going to be well-attended. I guess Chainsaw Man has officially made it where I live.

Hope you enjoy the film! It's probably one of my top 10 favourite films of this year.

Definitely worth the ticket price! I disliked the CG fest at the very start of the TV series but the film looked gorgeous, with an arc which actually worked structurally as a standalone film. I did feel sorry for the bunch of people who left at the start of the credits and missed the final scene.

Elysian released Princess Mononoke in IMAX in August, I was lucky to be able to catch it at the Science Centre in Glasgow and it was fantastic.

Although, aside from the large screen, I don't see the reason for the releases being in IMAX. IMAX is very inaccessible for me, with the nearest being a four+ hour round trip away. That being said, Elysian do such a poor job with their theatrical releases, nothing made it up this far even in standard 2D.

Tbh unless it's on a proper IMAX screen like at the BFI and not the smaller IMAX Digital screens that most of the IMAX screens are in the UK your milage will vary.

I think the one in Glasgow is massive but not the best quality. Never been to a 'proper' IMAX, so what you don't know can't harm you šŸ˜‰
