UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Sorry for slightly offtopic question

But am I correct in thinking Part 3 of Attack on Titan Season 4 is just 2 specials for both streaming and physical? The episode ver. was never released in English?

And "The last attack" is just a retelling of those specials

---

Finally is there any way to watch the recap movies legally? From what I can see only movies that show up are the Live Action ones on bluray

You'd be correct in that Part 3 of S4 is two specials for both streaming and physical and the episode version hasn't been released in English as far as I know.

The Last Attack is a movie version of those two specials.

Movie-wise, Chronicle is available to stream on Crunchyroll which is a recap of S1 - S3 and Anime Limited released the S2 movie Roar of Awakening on CE blu-ray only (which I think is OOP now).

I feel like Funimation did stream the two S1 recap movies when they were still a thing but I'm not 100% sure.

Well this is interesting, crunchyroll's the anime effect is rated by the BBFC which means crunchyroll are submitting there content to be rated by the BBFC like Netflix and Amazon prime, for those who don't know online streaming services are not legally required to submit there content to the BBFC like cinemas and home media are but some (the big players) do voluntarily and the reason this surprises me is because I didn't think crunchyroll would ever be able to afford to submit there content to be rated. Also a bit of interesting info, the BBFC are openly using AI to rate programs and films now particularly because of the fast paced nature of streaming, so now services have to pay the BBFC to have a computer to do there jobs.

Germany will receive a Sailor Moon Season 1 Steelbook Edition in November. It's quite possible that the UK release will be around the same time, as they could save costs (manufacturing, approvals,...) by using the same packaging (but different discs)
The Germany release of Sailor Moon Season 1 Steelbook might be either delayed or cancelled.

My dad is already paying £200 a month for sky With fibre and it's bad enough that virgin and others have put there subscriptions up as well otherwise I'd ask if he could subscribe to Crunchyroll.
It doesn't go on the Sky account. If you're a Crunchyroll member just go to the app and login. If not then, yeah, it would be an extra cost.

Crunchyroll, where are the blu-ray releases for Sound! Euphonium season 2 and 3? Come on, I thought we were finally going to get those after they released the first season but after that it has been crickets. Also for the love of God, release Uma Musume seasons 1-3 on blu-ray already! Why are they not using it's current popularity to their advance?? I have been waiting since 2018 for the first season to be released on blu-ray and they still have not done that. Now we are at the end half of 2025, two more seasons have come out and still no blu-ray release for any of the seasons. Also also, will CR ever give MyGO and Ave Mujica blu-ray releases? If this was Sentai Filmworks they would have already released them on blu-ray since they released the previous anime installments of BanG Dream on blu-ray. I curse the day CR got the rights to stream MyGO and Ave Mujica. Yes, I would have not been able to watch MyGO and Ave Mujica on HDIVE due to their stupid region restrictions but at least I would own both shows on blu-ray at this point.

Sorry for this rant, I am just frustrated about wanting to buy anime but not being able to do so since no one will license and release anime I am interested in.

Seems Crunchyroll are splashing the cash and promoting themselves at Premier League matches. Burnley v Liverpool, on currently, is the second match I've watched this weekend where I've noticed them on the electronic hoardings.

New Crunchyroll Blu-ray announcements including Kaiju no 8 Limited Edition.

Those announcements are for Crunchyroll US, not Crunchyroll UK though at least some will certainly come.

I will definitely be picking up Black Butler and KonoSuba!

I enjoy Kaiju No. 8 (though yet to start S2) but I don't feel I need to own it on home video.

I own S1 of Re:Zero though yet to watch it but what are the differences between the original series and the director's cut, is it worth owning both if I end up enjoying the series? (I likely will).

I never got around to finishing Spice & Wolf and though I'd like to get back to it and finish watching it I don't think it's a series I will be planning to re-visist.

I don't have much desire to watch Tower of God S2 tbh despite enjoying S1. I watched the first episode of S2 when it aired but never got around to watching any more of it.
