Dark Souls 2. Oh my god this game is amazing. Such a cruel difficulty curve at the start, but after a couple of bosses the new feel of the character has set in. Can proudly say that so far, I have beaten three bosses on the first attempt; Old Dragonslayer, Dragonrider, and Flexile Sentry. Also...

Guacamelee is on price reduction at the moment, so I recommend checking it out. In my opinion, it is one of the best indie games of this year. It is also available on Steam now too (and has been for a few months now I think), so have a look. :)

Not really; Nintendo had a greater presence in Europe than Sega did during that time, or at least in the UK. It was close, though Nintendo outpaced Sega by far with advertising. Then, a wild Playstation appeared, and everything it did was super-effective.
