UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Oh, I've been wondering what happened to @teetoni ? They're AL's social media representative but they've not been here since December. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for @Hanners being here but I'd be happy with more people to communicate (if there more busy with other social media I understand I'd just like to know).
Pure speculation but based on recent changes in how AL do things, I wouldn't be surprised if they're prioritising wider audiences whilst Andy addresses us nerds. AL seem to have decided in the past 12 months they need a much more dedicated push beyond the otaku circles.

As much as I love Kill la Kill, at that price I'll stick with my regular DVDs.
Although, I think I own part 2 as a CE type of thing on top of 3 standards so that's are far as I want to go.

Support Nudist Beach in their fight.👻

As much as I would like to own Kill la Kill on Blu-ray...
International buyers are just screwed:
49.99 gbp for the box
20.00 gbp for shipping
= 69.99 gpb
No IOSS, meaning 19% tax on top...
= 83.29 gpb
And then 3€ new custom tariffs + 7.50€ from my local carrier for paying the tax in advance...
107.60€ total...

Rarewaves has all 3 for 95€ incl. shipping (+ maybe 3€ tariffs). But thanks to IOSS no walk to the post office...

It is so frustrating that it is cheaper to buy via a third party seller (with no ongoing sale) than directly from All The Anime :(

Despite loathing AL's affinity for white spines/boxes
Heheh I'm not alone in this then! And as for valuing these titles, I'm thinking more one man's junk being another's treasure so perfectly happy selfishly valuing my collection with nary a care for someone else hating it😅. Monetary valuation-wise, I don't ever want to part with my collection of I don't have to, but alternatively if I wanted to make money and had any sense, according to modern savvy folks, I'd be buying $hitcoin or some other imaginary craptocurrency or the other, but am too dumb for that.

I totally understand your feeling for Liz being too long as it is definitely a slow burner, but as I love it as much as I do it's a case of can't have too much of a good thing. Also think that is a Yamada/Ushio movie as I can't see it being complete with Ushio's phenomenal work on the score.

Thanks for the info on the kings game manga, any comparison to Higurashi is high praise indeed so will be checking that out (some day sooner rather than later...).

If it does not have the movie its not really an ultimate edition is it?

For some reason after the initial ADV release set that had all episodes and the movie none of the later releases ever had the movie released with em. is there some kind of licensing issue to get it?

I'm not entirely sure, but I will note that most fans don't really care for the film and it's not essential to completing the story. If you are a fan of it though I'm sorry about it. I really enjoyed the series but never got all the way through the film! (The release I have is the Animatsu Blu-ray release) :)

I mean the series itself is a complete package, the movie is pretty much half a recap and half new material that is more like an aftermath side story. Its fine without it im just sayin if u are a fan of the series even if it wasn't great an ultimate editon should have everything otherwise it is not really an ultimate edition now is it?

Yeah this is a very fair point, maybe they should have called it a TV series deluxe edition or smth 🤔

It seems that Nadia is about £20 more than a couple of years ago (I still haven’t watched it!), Future Boy Conan is just a penny more than last year (so I guess that’s acceptable), and Kill La Kill standards are something around a tenner more than I paid for the three CEs plus box.

The prices seem a little messed up, when the sale itself includes a whole bunch of more recently issued products on substantial discount or clearance.

I’m assuming there’s one more “flash sale” tomorrow, with everything ending on Monday?
