What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Brought Choujin X Volume 12, Baki Volume 2 and #DRCL Volume 6. DRCL has been my favourite ongoing series so every new volume is a big deal for me.

I’ve committed very heavily to comics lately. I’d like to spend some time completely reorganising my shelf but the weekend has been chaotic. Got a collection of Flash Gordon, The Secret Files of Dr Drew, Terminal City, The Seeds, Hellboy Universe: Secret Histories, Abe Sapien The Drowning and Other Stories and Batman: The Dark Knigjt Returns. I received three Blu-ray titles from MediaOCD on Saturday:

Monster Collection 1
When they Cry Rei
When they Cry Kai

A follow-up to my 7-8 years late Bebop AL giganto metal storage yyy chest acquisition: today received another artbook direct from Nippon. Everything chronologically ordered, from 1997-2001. There must have been some licensing issues or else Andrew proving once more to be useless at giving meeee my favourite anime in deluxe format: this book - unlike the one included by AL - is Toshihiro Kawamoto branded--the character designer behind Bebop, Golden Boy, 08th MS Team, Wolf's Rain and countless other anime I had never fully clocked the art similarities of. Until now.

The best part of this book is not actually the art, ironically: each entry has a small bit of text, explaining the why and providing some great insights. Usually this wouldn't be ideal, as Japanese I knoweth not...eth. To my surprise however, the text is in both kanji AND English. Now I know Ed was modeled on Yoko Kanno, given how eccentric she was. And that the fantastic second double-page image I had never seen before is inspired by Clint Eastwood's 'A Fistful of Dollars'. Other posters etc were similarly inspired by Hollywood cinema.

I received one Blu-ray pre-order title from Crunchyroll today. I did notice that when the plastic slipcover is removed, the steelbook spine is completely blank, with no text at all. Below is my usual steelbook photo spread:

How are they shipping now? Looks like every corner of your slipcover is bent. :(

In a cardboard wrap-around, as usual from CR for a single Blu-ray. The corners are all bowed in a bit from the tight shrink wrap over top, but two of the front corners look more like they were warped by heat, maybe from the shrink wrap machine? There is also a knife slash on the spine as well from unboxing them. It appears all the damage was done before the actual shipping to me. Fortunately it is affecting only the plastic slipcover; the steelbook is fine underneath. I'm not really a big fan of those plastic slipcovers anyway, except that they do help protect the steelbook in shipping. I always put all my steelbooks in plastic box protectors to store them on the shelf, whether they have a plastic slipcover or not. Most steelbooks I get from Crunchyroll arrive pristine, so this one was an exception. The damage is not really as bad as it looks in the photo though, as the lighting and flash reflections make it look worse than it is.
