UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Simple, pirating will just increase, if people can't get what they want legally then they'll just get it illegally.
I doubt it. Most of the stuff people want is already on streaming. Plus, hard drives are stupid expensive thanks to AI. The folks who are going to pirate are already pirating.

You got it wrong-ssds are super expensive, hdds went up a little bit but not much-try pricing either DDR5 or DDR4 ram if you upgrade or build a new computer......! FYI-people who "pirate" usually don't brag about it, they just do it. 😏

This! Like please, CR, give Sound! Euphonium license to AL so they can release seasons 2 and 3 on blu-ray since you clearly aren't going to do so.
But what if they might someday have an idea to maybe consider releasing it and want to form a plan to do so years after its popularity dies and only choose to do a standard edition?

if Crunchyroll aren't going to release Blu Rays/DVDs anymore, why not just give the licences to MVM or Anime Ltd.? After all Aniplex is still licensing their anime to MVM
I wish there was some legal way to force them to release all the titles they have licensed but have never released on bluray and give them-to say Sentai. Then those of us who want to buy them could....!

It definitely feels like they are trying to phase out their physical media arm. It's not surprising, unfortunately, since it's just something they inherited from the companies they gobbled up and was never their main focus.
It was the Sony-owned Funimation, who were more of a home media company than a streaming one, that bought Crunchyroll. But in changing the name to the latter, it really does seem like they're behaving far more like it was the other way round in who was the buyer and who got bought.

In the US they also skipped May but have a few releases for June.

Crunchyroll UK have finally announced their July / August line-up, they're up for pre-order on anime-on-line, includes...
  • The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You (S2)
  • Dr. Stone: Science Future (S4) (Part 1)
  • Haikyu!! (S3)
  • I Left my A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths!
  • Rent-A-Girlfriend (S4)
I'm glad to see Haikyu continue to be released, I'll be picking that up along with RAG.

Oh thank goodness, was starting to wonder if they just weren't doing anything for the UK anymore. So two months were skipped compared to one in the US, but since most titles lag a month behind and with the small slates in the US there wasn't really much that hadn't already gotten a UK release that's not too surprising.

I went back and checked the posts here for the CR US announcements the past few months. June was only Dr. Stone and I Left My A-Rank Party so both of those are coming. Of the US July releases only 100 Girlfriends is here but others could be coming later.

Rent-A-Girlfriend S4 is the only one from the US August announcements, but others could still come later. I hope the UK gets the Dragon Maid movie.

Of these, just Dr. Stone for me.

100 Girlfriends Season 2 getting an 18 is a surprise as I don't recall there being too much fanservice of the extreme.

But then again it featured this masochist:
