UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Simple, pirating will just increase, if people can't get what they want legally then they'll just get it illegally.
I doubt it. Most of the stuff people want is already on streaming. Plus, hard drives are stupid expensive thanks to AI. The folks who are going to pirate are already pirating.

You got it wrong-ssds are super expensive, hdds went up a little bit but not much-try pricing either DDR5 or DDR4 ram if you upgrade or build a new computer......! FYI-people who "pirate" usually don't brag about it, they just do it. 😏

This! Like please, CR, give Sound! Euphonium license to AL so they can release seasons 2 and 3 on blu-ray since you clearly aren't going to do so.
But what if they might someday have an idea to maybe consider releasing it and want to form a plan to do so years after its popularity dies and only choose to do a standard edition?

if Crunchyroll aren't going to release Blu Rays/DVDs anymore, why not just give the licences to MVM or Anime Ltd.? After all Aniplex is still licensing their anime to MVM
I wish there was some legal way to force them to release all the titles they have licensed but have never released on bluray and give them-to say Sentai. Then those of us who want to buy them could....!

May is almost over and still no announcements from Crunchyroll UK, so June is going to be another month with zero disc releases from them. :(
It definitely feels like they are trying to phase out their physical media arm. It's not surprising, unfortunately, since it's just something they inherited from the companies they gobbled up and was never their main focus.

It was the Sony-owned Funimation, who were more of a home media company than a streaming one, that bought Crunchyroll. But in changing the name to the latter, it really does seem like they're behaving far more like it was the other way round in who was the buyer and who got bought.

In the US they also skipped May but have a few releases for June.
