UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

Re: Gungrave

It was the final item in its order to be dispatched for me and no email here either. The order itself is marked as shipped as of today's date in order history.

Looking forward to receiving it, been at least a decade since I last watched Gungrave.
Plus I got no order confirmation email today from my brand new order

Whatever happened to the Blu-ray release of Detective Conan: Million-Dollar Pentagram from CineAsia?
We've never been officially told it's no longer being released, release schedules continue to show it in the "upcoming" section with release date as "tbc".
It appears the listing for Million-Dollar Pentagram has been removed from Anime-on-line.com. Is the Blu-Ray officially dead?

As it had been well over a year since listing and with no word of it actually getting released we had decided to cancel and refund the few orders we had and delist it until it (if) gets a new release date.

@MVM With Amazon Prime's near decade long death grip on Inuyashiki and Re:Creators coming to an end, I was curious if either was available to license?
I've got a feeling the lack of a Blu-ray release for those two is more of an Aniplex issue than an Amazon issue as plenty of other non-Aniplex Amazon anime have seen releases.

Interestingly Crunchyroll does seem to have had Inuyashiki for streaming since 2023, just not in the UK so who knows what's up with that.

In the end I think if they were to get a release it'd be self authored given the lack of an English language release elsewhere.

Amazon has had exclusive rights to Inuyashiki and Re:creators in North America since their simulcast, hence the lack of an English friendly Blu-ray release for both.

That's kinda what I was hinting at. Aniplex and Crunchyroll almost certainly won't give either a physical release in North America. There might be an opportunity for MVM to pick up one or two highly coveted titles with the first (or possibly only) English friendly release in the world. Just some food for thought.
You gotta make your hints a bit clearer because otherwise you're just coming across as a regular Amazon jail doomer.

Having looked into it more I'm seeing more Aniplex shows that have seen a US Blu-ray release as well like Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Battery, The Great Passage and After the Rain so who can say whether it really is down to Aniplex or Amazon. I just find it to be a bizarre notion that Amazon has an iron grip on these shows in particular when so many others have been released.
