UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

Yeah I just checked the synopsis. With that many words in the title I usually wouldn't give it much thought but it actually seems pretty interesting.

You mean you're not gonna watch "The title of this light novel series written by my attractive, busty sister is needlessly long and overcomplicated and now we have angered the gods and I'm trapped in a videogame world"? I am shocked, shocked... well not that shocked :P

I genuinely get a bit of a headache looking at the schedule for upcoming seasons that only gets worse with every title like that. Light novels needs stopped

Tell me about it. I like MVM and order there often, but the new stuff isn't for me.
Bubblegum Crisis and Riding Bean are fun, though.
I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding. I was referring to stuff that's yet to be broadcast. Bubblegum Crisis and Riding Bean definitely don't fit that definition in both the time they were made and the length of their title

Some LNs and adaptations of them are great (Durarara, Spice and Wolf, Boogiepop Phantom, Kino's Journey for example), but agree the market is oversaturated with subpar isekai etc., I am also bummed that some of the actually good LNs such as Kino's Journey don't get official English releases even though there's clearly a market for LNs now, while there are likely over 9000 videogame-style isekai series being published translated into English now! I don't even dislike all isekai but like... ugh.

Sounds like my kind of show - where’s it streaming?! 😄😄

I dunno... go ask your mother-I mean check the currently streaming spreadsheet in the appropriate thread maybe? :P

Oh for sure. Not a knock against all light novels, especially as Boogiepop Phantom and Kino's Journey 2003 probably rank somewhere in my top 25 anime. My ire is largely aimed at the more recent Narou wave of series where the title becomes a whole sentence. Some isekai and stat series can be good but I think I'm fine waiting for the wider communities' thoughts first.
