UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I've given up on the AL Inuyasha releases - I'm moving onto the US BDs instead.

AL released Part 1 in November 2021 and Part 2 in May 2024 - and absolutely no trace of anything since. Even if they do ever unleash Part 3 on the world, then how long would it be until they bother with Part 4?

It's a pain, because the first two AL releases cover episodes 1-52 but the first two Viz releases go up to episode 55, meaning I couldn't just start with Viz's Part 3 because I'll be missing three episodes.

It really seems like as soon as AL got the Bleach and Naruto licenses, they just completely lost interest in Inuyasha.

Do you think the "Diebuster Collector's Edition" will sell out quickly? I somehow missed that it's being offered for sale on the Anime Ltd store. I see a lot of people have bought it, and I'm starting to wonder whether to get it right away or wait for an "early bird redux." Hmm...

Nevermind Christmas Sale orders, I have pre-orders from Perfect Blue CE, Diebuster CE, and Cyberpunk CE all non shipped, all purchased before December and on the day the orders went live and still absolutely nothing.

Perfect Blue is out of stock too, which worries me that they won’t have a copy to fulfill my order now. Nearly 200 quid worth of stuff ai paid for and nothing but generics emails about working through it. Its not good enough i’m afraid and really makes me think twice about ordering new things which I don’t want to because the’ve been great in the past and I want to support them… but they’re making it difficult currently

I gave up waiting for Diebuster to be released and picked up the old Amaray for cheap.
I don’t find myself inclined to upgrade: I’d normally go for a LE/CE/UE, but this one seems to be from the tail-end of their “Standard put in an outer box” phase, with just the art card and 16-page leaflet.

Just out of interest, did AL ever comment on why the Great Pretender CE is so big? 4 discs in 4 full size amaray cases seems completely unnecessary and makes the whole set like 40% bigger than it needs to be.
I noted last time round that the separate releases were a single Amaray each, so less than half the space (and something funky going on with the disc count):
So the deluxe edition contains 5 discs in 4 Amaray cases, but the separate parts contain 5 discs and 3 discs respectively, in just a single case each?
And on top of that, the srp is stated to be £69.99 (not £129.99) in the description.
I’m not sure about how that implies this version is taking up more room for fewer discs?
If there’s more “case artwork” then that’s kinda what digipaks were good at, not just adding inlays to empty cases. Or just put a card o-ring slip with the different artwork around the inlay version (inside the outer CE box).
No, I don’t like the empty space either; it cheapens the whole thing, akin to padding or filler. At least there’s a weighty book (along with art cards and poster) to stop the box floating away.

Isn't the old amaray just the movie version?

Yeah, it is, with IIRC about half the runtime of the OVAs cut out and no new footage. Completely worthless, and no substitute for the Anime Limited release. Anyway, if you don't want the Limited Edition, why not just buy the standard? It's definitely available; I've had my copy for a couple weeks.

Not the case at all - InuYasha is a complicated project because a. There aren't lots of materials available (and we often have to chase down more, plus we've been commissioning our own articles to provide more context and discussion of the series), and b. We're authoring each release ourselves to provide the best video quality that we can, which is a particularly painstaking task on this one.

Ultimately we're as keen to get these moving again as anyone. There was a hold-up in terms of licensing and acquiring the rest of the rest of the series, but that's now done and dusted so it's just about us making all of the required work to get these moving.

Want to drop me a message with these so I can take a look? While Perfect Blue is an issue in terms of stock that we're trying to claw back from elsewhere, those other items should have been shipped by now so I want to check up on these and see what's going on there.

Was the Final Act season part of the package or will that be a separate license?
Thanks for all your hard work.
