Personally I think they were hampered by the curated weekday programming, leaving them no wriggle room for scheduling the other films. I really liked what they did last year for showing Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, splitting the episodes across 2 nights. I think they could have done the same with Lupin here, say, showing OVAs 1 & 2 on the Wednesday then 3 & 4 on the Thursday. I would have preferred that myself as other than Project A-Ko, the curated films weren't great (Golgo 13 is one of the worst anime I have ever seen). I think if they try a curated block again, I think they need to place more restrictions on the curator.
To be fair on the SLA crew, I'd largely blame the Picturehouse for this, as I think they were trying to plug in their usual programming around the festival (there were a number of films in Screen 1 before the SLA films) and it not working very well.
They're doing a sequel to Junk Head to finish off the story. They are really good stop motion animators though so I would be up for anything they decide to do after that!
