@Girls with Guns
This might affect you.

I do have 2 pre-orders placed with Anime-On-Line for three steelbooks, but they are for release dates 29/9 and 27/10, so hopefully things will be resolved by then. I could always tell them to hold the first order and ship them all together in October, if need be. And if I have to shell out a bit more to get my Blu-rays, it will be a fairly trivial amount to cover tariffs on just Blu-rays. It's my six outstanding pre-orders for scale figures from Japan that really have me worried, with those figures all around $200 or more - the extra costs from tariffs for those could be substantial. 😟

Assuming everyone involved knows what they are doing, you should not have to. Recorded media such as blu-rays are in a category with a zero tariff rate; see here Harmonized Tariff Schedule.

The various executive orders can be difficult to read and follow all the ifs/ands/buts/ors, but items that have always been exempted such as this do not appear to be changed.

Your figures are likely made in China, and it's the country of origin on which the tariff rates are based, not the country where the company releasing is located or the country where they are shipped from. In the past, I know Amiami listed Japan as the country of origin on customs forms, but I don't know if they're still doing that; they aren't supposed to do it.

As I understand it for items from China (and I could be wrong given the uncertainty of so much of this) you get either the percentage, which is high for goods from China, at one point I think 50% but who knows really, or a minimum fee that if hasn't changed again I believe what I saw was $100 so that would mean if the percentage tariff value was $50, you would still pay $100, but if it was $120 you'd pay $120.

:oops:

Another anime review from The Guardian, this time of the new Demon Slayer film.

Not Phil Hoad this time but Phuong Le and it's 4*! (To be fair to the Guardian, they published an article in 2003-ish (?) about Dragon Ball and Toriyama which was really well researched etc. at a time when no one knew anything about it over here. I'm sure I kept a copy of it...somewhere in my files... 🤔)
