Today I received my latest consolidated Stackry package which contained the following:


From the MediaOCD storefront.




From Amazon.com. A mix of anime and non-anime titles including a sizeable boxset of Frank Capra films.


From eBay.


And finally, from Gruv.

The shipping cost after consolidation fee and extra protective packaging wasn’t the cheapest but the Frank Capra set was the bulk of the shipping cost, and that was less than £90 from Amazon, which is a bargain for 20 films.

I’ll have another shipment heading my way in late early October when the Amazon exclusive ANOES Steelbook set arrives at my locker.

There is something just a bit humorous about Frank Capra, Little Women, High Society, and then Kite and Urotsukidoji in the same shipment.

#07: The Cat & Come Drink With Me

Spoiler: Context

Arriving in the final week of the month are more 88 Films releases. We're starting off with another Lam Nai-Choi film called The Cat (衛斯理之老貓) released in 1992 and while its not rated Category III, the film does feature more bizarre antics that the director's known for. Similarly to Devil Fetus and Her Vengeance, the packaging here offers an o-card sleeve, rigid slipcase, scanavo case, art card and a booklet that includes various essays and illustrations from the films.

And to wrap up the haul, Come Drink With Me (大醉俠), King Hu's 1966 film, has finally been picked up. I've known about this film as early back to when I first started picking up 88 Films releases. The difference here is that the film has been re-released for the 4K Ultra HD format with new artwork to fit in line with their newer Shaw Brothers releases. The limited edition includes an o-card slipcase and poster.

very interested to find out what the subs on the Come Drink With Me 4K are like
I have the bluray version and the subs were terrible, iirc they were provided by the HK side and not done by 88 Films but it put me off buying anything else from them for a long time. I noticed the 4K release page says "With Newly Translated English Subtitles" so hopefully they're better!

Went to a retro convention today in the Netherlands. Picked up these four games. Always wanted to own Super Mario Land 1 & 2 (childhood memories). Wario Land looks hideous, but it's just the outer protective shell that looks ugly. The game itself is in near mint condition. I really like gen 3 of Pokémon (I own Sapphire and Leaf Green) so I went for Pokémon Emerald this time.

Went to HMV and took advantage of the sales at the last minute. Two films from Radince, Dogra Magra and Tattooed Life. Plus 86 on Blu-ray and Hellsing on DVD.

The shoes are a bit flimsy and not very comfortable so I'll be returning them, but I love the pens, particularly the bigger set of double ended glitter markers, the pastel iridescents are nice as well both sets good value for money especially the bigger one, I'm happy to have received one of my New X-Men volumes (volume 8) and it appears to be in very good condition, have messaged the seller of the other lot of volumes 1-7 to check up on if they have posted it out yet or are going to soon, feedback rating is good but would appreciate some reassurance

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I also really like my Languo acrylic paint markers now, the metallic gold and silver are lacking but every matte colour I've tried has been very pretty, have been using them with the glitter markers to complete a sort of doodly picture with lots of flowers and other cute/cool stuff on it and it's been really enjoyable

Also my X-Men comics were shipped shortly after I messaged the seller and are prob gonna arrive tomorrow so woo!
