At the very least with these sets a normal sized CE should always be offered people from what I’ve seen don’t want to buy these sets that can’t go on a shelf where are you meant to put them

I think we're at the point now where labels should be realising it's the collectors who are keeping them alive and if they don't own a warehouse purely for physical media storage maybe stop doing these stupid oversized editions!!!

If its a case of something the size of 5-10 vinyls stacked together or them just getting the standard edition you're literally killing your own collectors edition sales base 🤦‍♂️

By all means have the big chonker edition but you need a middle ground between that and basic std edition. Could even do something similar to an Arrow Video limited edition, doesn't have to be a rigid case, nice slipcover poster/ small booklet.

I predicted this set would be oversized (but thankfully its collector's edition sized like Blue Giant) considering the Japanese Blu-ray Box has the Vinyl Soundtrack included. Interesting AL didn't manage to get that here but I suppose someone else may have picked up the music rights.

At least we got the Netflix dub.

But yeah AL does have a problem of style over substance for a lot of CEs. I am expecting Macross Delta/Frontier to be big oversized sets as well.
 
Since watching Devilman: Crybaby way back it was always one of my most wanted titles for AL to pick up and give a lovely CE for and it is a lovely one but as I've said before, the awkward size has put me off completely and I'll be settling with the standard edition down-the-line. I don't really have the space for large sets (which isn't AL's fault, of course) and putting it next to my other CE's would look awkward as it'd stick way out on the shelf and wouldn't look uniform with the standard sized sets.

My only hope is that in the future they'll re-release some of these sets in standard sized CE's, even if just a rigid box and a small booklet or poster similar to the re-releases of Re:Zero S1, Eureka Seven, Silver Spoon etc.

It's just a shame it keeps happening to series and movies I adore such as Devilman: Crybaby and Blue Giant or series / movies I've really been interested in and know I'll likely love such as Macross Plus and Eizouken.

Another factor is that these sets also cost a lot more which isn't ideal.

EDIT: I really hope Carole & Tuesday or The Castle of Cagliostro won't be over-sized but if they are they'd be some of the few exceptions I'd have to bite for.

Even in the US, while all five seasons were released, the movie Mayuri Judgment was not, which as I understand it is an important part of the story, not just a compilation movie. In addition, I'm fairly sure that at least season 1 is out of print and has been for some time.
