Yuri License Announcements

If they go too gung ho there's a danger of oversaturating the market. Even putting aside yuri specifically, Seven Seas licenses are lacking a bit in diversity lately as a result of this.
Now that you mentioned it, it seems Seven Seas doesn't license many classic titles anymore. In 2021-2022 they were into licensing classic manga but now those licenses are more sparse. Like, at this year's Anime NYC they announced license for the 90's cult classic josei horror manga Pet Shop of Horrors (very excited for that one!) and the previous classic license before that was Marmalade Boy which they announced license for in 2022.

They're currently publishing a new translation/edition of Gravitation (1996-2002 in Japan - originally a Tokyopop title) which I think probably counts as a classic, even if it's not everyone's favourite!

Bit of a weird one here since they aren't technically new licenses, but Manga Mavericks have started a publishing arm and in addition to their flagship licenses, they are going to be selling new print runs of several yuri manga which were originally distributed exclusively through Kickstarter and translated by Red String Translations. All of three of these titles will be on sale in July 2025, so if you missed out and want to get your hands on them this is a good opportunity (images lifted from the Manga Mavericks website). ane1.JPG

I can confirm that 'Now No One Lurks Beneath the Snow' is fabulous by the way. Historical yuri with a non-binary lesbian love interest. Very forthright with its feminist themes. Highly recommended.

Spicy as hell too (hence the R18 on the cover).
