Watched the first ep of Wolf Girl and Black Prince. Did anyone else find the romanticization of that main guy and the pet/master relationship to be a bit troubling?

Silver Will Argevollen - Episode 18

I do like the characterisation in Argevollen.

Cosmo Police Justy

Still the epitome of 80's sci-fi OVAs in every respect, and still a great watch for a one shot OVA.

It's getting more disturbing as the series progresses. I watched this series so far because the whole master/pet thing was mostly used for comic effect, but the latest episode just left me furious. His 'jokes' become very cruel and she should have hit him. Repeatedly. With a baseball bat.

Yesterday:
Denki-gai ep6. What's with all the apples in the OP?
Psycho-Pass 2 s2ep5. Brilliant as always.
Yona of the Dawn ep5. This story is finally gaining some traction.

I've watched up to the latest episode now, and you're right it does get worse. I don't think the whole pet/master thing is just used for comic relief. The whole show seems to just be providing a really unhealthy and nihilistic male power fantasy ego trip. It's kinda surprising when you think that it's based on a manga aimed at women and written by one (I think). It just gets worse as it goes on, the girl seems to start to embrace her role in this power play, or at least is so utterly desperate for his attention she is willing to play up to it saying things like "please pat my head" or "please buy me a collar and lead for Christmas". And the message the end of the latest episode gives is quite frankly disgusting. I genuinely feel ashamed for having supported this, by streaming it on CR. I was morbidly curious about it.

Yeah, I was mainly giving it the benefit of the doubt simply because it's based on a shoujo manga and written by a woman (Ayuko Hatta), but that last episode was utterly indefensible and there is no ignoring the misogynistic tone of the storyline. Showing idealised romantic relationships is what shoujo manga/anime is predominantly about, but I just don't see how any woman (or man) can look at this and think 'that's what I want from a relationship'.
I would be very interested to hear a female viewpoint on this.

In the last week and and a half I only watched:
Psycho Pass 2 - Episode 4
Amagi Brilliant Park - Episode 5

Today:
Kabukimonogatari - Episodes 1 - 4
Psycho Pass 2 - Episode 1 (Dub)

Kabukimonogatari was actually pretty good. I personally thought it was one of the stronger arcs so far.
Next was the dub for episode 1 of Psycho Pass 2. I thought the casting for the new characters was pretty good, although it's still early days. Felt a bit weird seeing the unfinished Opening again though.
On the flip side I watched half of the first episode of Log Horizon dubbed, and it was as you'd expect from Sentai - awful (mis)casting, poor script and abysmal acting. I won't bother buying it at this stage.
