I've now finished this show. Delightfully silly. I look forward to more adventures of the Perverted Horny Housewives who are all voiced by the same VA.

Continuing my rewatch of the Robot Romance Trilogy. I had the SD-BD set and ended up replacing it with with the full HD set. Looking back at my tracker this was my favourite series of the trilogy and it's off to a good start so far and I love the way these 70's shows look in HD.

I did the same as I enjoyed the series enough to justify the upgrade.
 
Vermail in Gold Episodes 1-5: This starts out as an inverted version of The Familiar of Zero. In that series a proud but failing noblewoman gambles her academic future on summoning a familiar only to end up accidentally summoning a boy from another dimension who is equally useless and their adventures. Vermail in Gold is about a gifted boy of humble origins and disposition, struggling with the only class he's not acing and accidentally summoning a demon woman. Not only is she unbelievably powerful but her kiss also boosts own magic gifts to new heights. Ensuring there are no downsides to their partnership at all. I am completely out of touch with modern anime so I doubt it is indicative of a larger trend. But Vermail does feel like it had to remove the tension and intrigue youā€™d expect from the premise (magician accidentally breaks the worst taboo and has to hide it while unraveling this girlā€™s origins) to be as straight forward as possible. The supporting cast are very funny though. The central dynamic I donā€™t care about but these boisterous losers, quiet maids, dinosaur nerds and dragon tamers are very entertaining. And the ED is quite nice. I donā€™t think Iā€™ll finish this one.

Code Geass Episodes 1-7 (Rewatch) - They hit the ground running on this one. It has the confidence to start with an interesting inciting incident and steadily introduce new details as it goes along. They take a full 7 episodes before all of Lelouchā€™s motivations are fully revealed on many things that you would consider key iconography still hasn't been introduced yet. It's a fun series to go back to now that I'm more well versed in Gundam and Mecha anime in general so that I can appreciate 'the antagonist' having at the access to the white super prototype is toying with expectations.

C.C's outfit is crazy. It's meant to be a straight jacket but it also has built in high heels. And I do not know what the design notes CLAMP were given for that. I wouldn't put it past Gorō Taniguchi or the late Takahiro Kimura to give them a design document of 'a sultry straight jacket that is also comfortable loungewear with heels' but you can also imagine CLAMP reaching the conclusion of fashionable prisoner wear on their own.

Ghost in the Shell Cinema Preview - They promised a nice art style and The Major kissing girlsand thatā€™s what they delivered. This was alright. It has the huge problem of just being another adaptation of the same storyline. And you can debate the merits of that but it is just weird to get the parts that are identical to the Oshi movie at the same point in the runtime. There aren't going to be many surprises or twists for returning fans. It looks lovely though. If the studio gets a chance to do a new Appleseed or a completely new series with style I'll be really happy. It's just that with reinterpretations of Ghost in the Shell I do have high expectations.

One Week Friends episodes 8-12 & Specials (Complete. An amnesia-themed drama which though presenting an interesting concept didnā€™t quite grip me in execution. Maybe Iā€™ll rewatch this one day and see if my perspective changes.) 3/5

Ghost In The Shell 1-if you haven't watched this you really should, it's pretty damn cool. But whatever you do watch it dubbed, the japanese dialogue really sucks.
