Akira

Watched this on Sunday with my son-in-law who had never seen any anime before, he was very impressed.

How old is he?

He's 28, he thought that all anime was hyper violent or pornographic, but I wanted to show him that wasn't the case. He wants to see something from Ghibli next.

Back to 1991/2 when Manga Entertainment started releasing Anime in the UK most of was very violent (FOTNS, AD Police etc) and then they released Urotsukidoji which skewed most people who weren't fans view of anime, and this is the viewpoint he was coming from.

You're probably right but violence was associated with Manga itselft at the time. Nowadays Manga its completely diferent providing not only violence. :D

Basilisk 1-2

Started today rewatching one of my favourite series ever. Im a great samurai/ninja fan so Im suspicious eheh I have the complete series since 2008 and never rewatched it so Im starting today. I should be done by end of next week. I just love it.

I have this boxset from 2008 from funi, which is amazing.

Yeah, but then they were the only significant anime distributor at the time, I can still remember the 'NOT FOR KIDS' stickers on Urotsukidoji, I know that a lot of people saw that and had a very polarised view of anime afterwards.
