Witch Hunter Robin

Don't get me wrong, I'd be the last guy to suggest that characters should always look pretty or cutesy, but eh... I struggle to put my finger on what it is exactly.

The mouths wouldn't bother me that much on their own, but the characters all seem to have curiously large foreheads and, personally, I thought the hair was rather blocky for most of the cast.

I dunno, I just get the idea that they've made a conscious effort to avoid anything that would make the characters classically good-looking, and they've taken it to such a length that it just ends up feeling forced and unnecessary.

I noticed never seem to use highlights in the hair, even in the outdoor scenes, it's all black outline - main colour - darker shadow. May have something to do with it. Think I'll analyse the art at some point for the hell of it. Hey, at least it's not "Gilgamesh hair".

Just noticed the mullet comment, I think I've become conditioned to that with all the GitS I've been watching!

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ep. 17 - 20
It's a mixed bag with the stand alone episodes again, but the final episode gets back on track with the Laughing Man case. I'd really like to have more of a sense of danger for the cast, the suspense being a little lacking when you know that several members of Section 9 are way too difficult to kill (as evidenced in this volume). All Laughing Man through to the end of the series after this though... oh yeah.

8/10 - had to "wtf!?" at the way no-one helps the guy at the end.

I told you :p the ending is one of the most emotional I've ever seen in anime.
Air Summer is a odd.

Miho definitely looks a bit odd, and with her I see what you mean about the angular hair and enormous forehead. But I defy anyone to tell me that Yurika isn't seriously hot ^____^
And the more human / realistic of the bunch as well.

Ep 1-12 of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Really into the series at the moment. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story is going to come out comapred to the original anime.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ep. 21 - 23
To summarise, this volume starts off really strongly and then ends up with a talky final episode which doesn't build the tension as much as I'd like, but it does set the scene for the final episodes.

9/10 - could easily be rated lower with the expository shenanigans.

Detroit Metal City episodes 1-7

The Rape Tokyo Tower part was one of the funniest things i've ever seen.

Do you think the funnies get worn out by the end though? It was hysterical the first four times I heard the one gag the show does, but then it just becomes a bit annoying. Characters aren't good enough to sustain any longer than the show was.

I watched the whole series in one sitting (with them only being 10min per episode). I never got tired of the jokes. I'll admit the longer it goes on the less laugh out load moments there are but all in all I thought it was a tidy little series.

I still rate the series fairly highly, and I did laugh throughout but the main character and his double-life stuff that I found quirky at the beginning became annoying.

I can agree with you there like. The series wasn't really too substantial like. I can't remember if there's character development at all.
The series is "shits and giggles", and that's all.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ep. 23 - 26
Not sure how much I can say about the storyline without giving too much away for those who haven't seen it. Let's just say I'm not overly happy with certain aspects of the final episode. But that said, this volume gets...

9/10 - still excellent, but not quite the masterpiece it could've been.

I'll ponder the rating for the whole series and write it up in the relevant thread.

Watched the first 13 episodes of FMA : Brotherhood (blu-ray) over the past couple days. It looks beautiful and I though the pacing was perfect, they could've put people off so much by dragging out storyline we had already been through before, and I cannot wait for the real meat of the series to start in the next volume!!

9/10

I can see what you mean, funny lyrics start to get repeative and start to lose there humor at times, but it has enough memorable parts to for me to enjoy it. my advice to anyone who hasn't seen it is just don't take it seriously and just have fun watching it.

I've got two episodes to watch now. Thanks Voddas for recommending it to me ;)

I think a comedy like Detroit Metal City that basically relies on a single joke/premise is going to have a limited shelf life. Twelve half-length episodes is about right. I was still finding it funny at the end, but I'm glad it ended when it did.

I picked up the first volume of the manga, from which all (or almost all) of the TV episodes were faithfully adapted, and found it hilarious all over again. Not sure if I'm going to buy too much more of it, though.

Be curious how it develops, and if it remains funny, so definitely post if you do pick it up.
