Food For the Soul Episode 12 (Complete. Comfy and fairly laid-back SoL with a relaxing atmosphere surrounding it's food theme concept that made for some delectable viewing.) 3/5

I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths!
Episode 24 The Adventure continues. (Complete. My personal favourite from this anime season with it's solid story and likeable main cast of characters for which I'll definitely be watching the newly announced second season when it eventually airs.) 4/5

Mono: Weekend Animation
Episode 12 Paranormal Prank. (Complete. To be honest, while this was enjoyable as a whole - IMO the creators should of made this a full crossover anime with all the cameos we got from the Yuru Camp gang.) 3/5

Catch Me At the Ballpark! ep1-3

Not quite what I was expecting (I thought it would be more of a straightforward romance), this is a sweet and often very funny little comedy series that works well with its vignette-style format. I’ve seen a few comments about the production feeling kind of basic, especially compared to the much more stylish ED sequence, but it’s warmth and charm are more than enough to carry it.

Given that it flashes up at the beginning of each episode, I do slightly wonder what prompted the title change from the still-clearly-visible ‘Catcher at the Ballpark’ though. Maybe they thought it sounded like a sports-themed slasher movie…

Anne Shirley episode 13 Red-nosed.

Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc episode 13 Meeting. (Complete. A very solid arc and better than the preceding - bring on the next.) 4/5

Detective Conan
episode 1167 Umbrella.

Food for the Soul episode 13 New years in June. (Complete. This offered a fun food-based anime though not necessarily one I’m likely to rewatch in a hurry.) 3.5/5

Kowloon Generic Romance
episode 13 The only one. (Complete. This was rather good overall but not one of the strongest mystery anime I’ve seen.) 3.5/5

Mono
episode 12 Movie. (Complete. Though not as strong as Yuru Camp from the same mangaka, this was another enjoyable outing for the season.) 3.5/5

Linebarrel of Iron
episodes 7-24 & OVAs (Complete. Not the most memorable Mecha anime I’ve seen, but another one from the backlog now watched.) 3/5

Look Back (Film)
An effective film that is well worth the watch - I went into this without any prior knowledge of the film’s narrative and am glad I did. 4/5

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2 episode 24 After. (Complete. An underwhelming second season - I do wonder if a third might turn things around but that remains to be seen.) 3/5

One Piece
episode 1134 Experiments.

To Be Hero X episode 13 New designs.

Uma Musume: Cinderella Grey episode 13 Rival. (Complete. UM has been a great franchise to watch and this entry was no different for the most part - I can’t wait for the next cour in October.) 4/5

Witch Watch
episode 13 An unrefined man.

Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note - A Grave Keeper, a Cat, and a Mage (Special), Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note episodes 1-12

Crunchyroll may have though that Catcher in the Ballpark looked too close to Catcher in the Rye? But I think the most likely answer is that the original title sets a false expectation of the series being about baseball rather than the people who sell beer at a baseball stadium.

Heavy Metal L-Gaim - Episodes 21 - 32

L-Gaim continues to get better and better and it's approaching the point in the show where it gets into its mega run to the finish. Episode 25 was sadly the last time my favourite anime opening theme ever, MIO's (MIQ's) 'Time For L-Gaim', was used (it's been my ringtone since 2002) and I missed each episode starting with it from the next episode. On the flip side episode 27 introduces one of favourite mecha designs, the L-Gaim Mk II, so balance is restored.

I also have a cel from episode 24, and I always smile when I see that part of the episode.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX - Episode 12 [Final]

Gundam Quacks - a mess of a show, some great fan service but it never added up to much. 5/10

GQuuuuuuX does seem to have generated a very love it or hate it response among fandom. Personally, after a messy start I enjoyed it overall and although it did have a lot to wrap up in the final episode, thought it brought everything to a reasonably satisfactory conclusion.

Barefoot Gen

I re-watched this for a review on the next episode of the podcast.

Outrun the Wind!

I watched this OVA about a motocross racer raw years ago and a fansub was released last week so watched it over the weekend. Simplistic but a lot of fun for motorsport fans.

The End of Evangelion

The Prince Charles Cinema had a few screenings scheduled this year and I have always wanted to see it at the cinema so took the opportunity to see it with a a mate on Friday evening. I've seen EoE lots of times and regardless of how many times I see it, I always still regard it as a bit of a flawed masterpiece. I'm always blown away at how visceral the assault on NERV HQ in the first half is every time I watch it, it is possibly one of the best series of action sequences I've ever seen in anime. In contrast, the second half frustratingly (for me at least) deflates a lot of the tension created in the first, but it does have some great imagery (especially of Unit 01 awakening) and I do really like the final scene.

Wanna-Be’s

I had a similar view on Wanna-Be's, not a lot to it but great entertainment nonetheless.

Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory

For me FMP! is a franchise of diminishing returns after a fantastic first season and I was really disappointed with Invisible Victory (TBH I thought it was terrible). At this stage I'd be happy not to see any more FMP! anime made.

Linebarrel of Iron

I thought Linebarrel of Iron had some good ideas and a couple of nice mecha designs (and quite a few really ugly ones) yet was very run of the mill as a whole.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes episode 13 A good look back. (Complete. A solid spin-off title for MHA, I look forward to the next season.) 3.5/5

Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note
episode 13, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note - Waver, Reunion, and the Magic Lantern (Special) (Complete. I enjoyed this overall as a spin off from Fate Zero but also its own storyline.) 3.5/5, 3.5/5, 3.5/5

Lost Song
episodes 1-12 (Complete. A middling fantasy anime to end the month on - I can’t say I missed too much by not watching when it was airing.) 3/5

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (Japanese) - Episode 13 (Complete)

This has been a great spin-off series, seeing a different side of the world of MHA. I'm looking forward to season two.

Rent-a-Girlfriend (Season 4) (Japanese) - Episode 37

The Shiunji Family Children (Japanese) - Episode 7 - 8

Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube episodes 1-2 Not a bad start - curious to see how this compares to the original I watched not too long ago.

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 2 episode 1 I’m not sure what’s more surprising - this getting a second season or me watching it (though I’ll see how the first few episodes fare before committing fully there.)

Lovely Complex episodes 16-24 (Complete. Though it came with some familiar and frustrating will they won’t they when it came to the central relationship LC was a fun watch.) 3.5/5

Love Me, Love Me Not (Film)
A middling romance film which didn’t do a whole lot for me. 2.5/5
