I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time Episode 12 (Complete. Potentially the weakest fantasy series from this season and the MC's repetitiveness didn't help either.) 2.5/5

Übel Blatt
Episode 12 (Complete. A dark fantasy that shares quite a few concept similarities to Berserk.) 3.5/5

Welcome to Japan, Miss Elf! Episode 12 (Complete. A fairly laid-back isekai/reverse-isekai with a very likeable pair that made for an enjoyable watch for which I would definitely welcome another season.) 3.5/5

The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids
Episodes 1-5

Loner Life in Another World
Episodes 1+2

Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time
Episodes 1+2

As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World S1
Episodes 1-4

And as there's a painful month to go before I get more Apothecary Diaries, I used myanimelist to pick

Raven of the Inner Palace
Episodes 1+2
🥳

Medalist episode 13 Test. (Complete. This was a series that ended up being better than initially expected and I’m glad it’s getting a second season as Inori was a nice character to follow and root for.) 4/5

Solo Levelling: Arise from the Shadows
episode 25 Nice and steady. (Complete. Like its first season, this was a great watch and I look forward to the third.) 4/5

Gaiking: Legend of Daiku-Maryu
episodes 4-27

Uzumaki (English) - Episode 1 - 4 (Complete)

I read the manga and then watched this back to back and it was a very messy adaptation. The pacing I felt was all over the place with how the chapters were merged simultaneously and just didn't feel right, even without reading the manga beforehand I'd imagine I would had felt the same.

The last episode was probably the best, adaptation wise as at that point in the story they couldn't merge chapters together in an in-organic way.

Animation-wise the first episode was the strongest but the messy pacing held it back still for me.

This definitely needed more episodes or a longer run time per episode as there was to much to fit into four average length episodes, such a shame to see how this adaptation turned out.

Just stick to the manga with this one.

Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 episode 50 Undisputed. (Complete. One of the my favourite fantasy anime of recent years, this was a lot of fun once again.) 4/5

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Season 2
episode 12 Cloudbusting. (Complete. This has so far been an improvement on the first season - will definitely tune in for the next cour.) 3.5/5

Gaiking: Legend of Daiku-Maryu
episodes 28-39 (Complete. An alternative take on Dino Mech Gaiking, which I watched back in 2023, this made for an entertaining watch, and having Mayumi Tanaka as the lead character is always a bonus.) 3.5/5

Gall Force 1: Eternal Story (Film)

Gall Force 2: Destruction OVA

Beastars: Final Season (Part 1) (English) - Episode 9 - 12 (Complete)

Another excellent season of Beastars. Studio Orange continue with their high quality production. This continues to be one of my favourite English dubs as well, everyone does a fantastic job in their roles.

A shame the final season is a split cour but highly anticipating the finale with Part 2.

Brave Raideen - Episodes 9 - 16

While for this run of episodes Raideen does feel very much like your fairly typical super robot show, there is still an edge to it.

Space Battleship Yamato - The New Voyage

A re-watch of the third movie. This one benefits from a 95 minute runtime (which is 40 - 50 minutes shorter than the other 4 movies as it was created primarily as a TV movie) which results in a film with betting pacing as some of the more repetitive elements of the previous films are eliminated though the story does feel like is is by the numbers somewhat.

Mighty Space Miners - Episodes 1 & 2 [Final]

I was reading a blog that had a passing mention of Mighty Space Miners and as I hadn't seen in it about 20 years decided to watch it again. I remember liking it and I still really enjoyed it this time round, such a shame the rest of the episodes never got completed as this could have been a truly great OVA. I watched a rip of the Japanese Blu-ray and it really shows off how gorgeous the animation is.

Future Robot Daltanious

Despite a few structural and tonal issues early on I actually think Daltanious is one of the stronger super robot shows from that era and doesn't get anywhere near the recognition that it deserves. It can be very goofy at times but I thought it had some great character stories and a strong run of episodes towards the end plus it has much better animation compared to most TV shows of the time and was the first robot to use the lion motif.

Gall Force 1: Eternal Story (Film)

Gall Force 2: Destruction OVA

Eternal Story is one of my all time favourite anime and I love the original trilogy of Gall Force anime. I desperately want the whole of the Gall Force franchise on Blu-ray.

Raven of the Inner Palace
Episodes 1+2
🥳

I really, really wanted a second season of this - and a Blu-ray release in the West - but it looks like we'll probably never get either. :(

That was the beginning of a dark period of anime Blu-ray non-releases - around that same time, The Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, My Happy Marriage, and Sugar Apple Fairy Tale all were huge favorites of mine, but none of these four ever got physical releases. 😭

I'm 4 episodes in and really enjoying it.
It certainly would have been a show that if I'd paid full price for a physical release, I wouldn't be bothered.
I do love all the etiquette stuff.

Woohoo, a new season of anime...

I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire! ep1: A drawn-out story about a surly, utterly unremarkable office worker who turns to evil when he is reincarnated in other world because everyone betrayed him in his past life - even his mean wife and child (this barely deserves a spoiler warning because the storytelling was so ham-fisted that every twist was obvious). He was portrayed as being pretty awful throughout this needlessly lengthy, miserable first episode and everyone I watched it with agreed that the entire sequence of events would have been better trimmed down to a couple of frames, because although I generally like it when isekai make the pre-reincarnation story relevant, this half hour of copy-paste content felt as though it was written by a vengeful preteen who had never witnessed an actual adult conversation before. The embittered lead's new life seems to involve a bunch of thirsty, loyal, mindless women fawning all over him as he rampages through space in a mobile suit - which is probably an improvement over the tedious first episode, but clunky revenge stories aren't a fantasy of mine and I'd rather watch something else.

The Unaware Atelier Meister ep1: A skilled party fires their servant because their crummy videogame-style world has a limit of four members in every party and they need to recruit an actual adventurer to fill their fourth slot. Which is... honestly reasonable, but they're all so overtly evil that it's obvious that it's a typical 'bullied lead' wish fulfilment show. The servant is a teenage boy with no self-awareness, so he doesn't hold it against them and signs up at the local guild. They tell him that his stats are too low for him to ever be able to work as a proper adventurer and give him menial work instead, except that he's too talented for such basic work so he goes back to the guild and teams up with an attractive VIP woman who likes to sleep next to him in the buff to test whether he's a good person or not (??!). It's all so stupid. In any case, the lead's hidden talent for crafting work is quickly discovered and everyone starts scheming to snap him up. The way that everyone kept being cartoonily pessimistic until something obvious subverted their expectations started bugging me halfway through the episode, it's a long way from being the worst of its subgenre but this show is doggedly generic. The grating background music deserves a special mention too. I preferred it to the other one because the lead was nicer but given that his aggressive commitment to cluelessness is part of the setup, I suspect that character development is not going to be a priority.

Rewatched a bunch of anime 'cos I was bored, finishing with Chillin' In My 30s After Being Fired From The Demon King's Army. I've decided Malika must be an Isekai, gifted with a super-strong body and the perfect partner by the Gods. It's the only think that would explain that, and the fact she makes boxed lunches of Japanese food, which are unknown to others. I think I may need to hunt down the books.

Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin episode 1 This was a bit of a mixed experience as a longer opening episode but I’ll give this series a chance.

Gall Force 3: Stardust War OVA

(Rhea) Gall Force OVA

Gall Force: Earth Chapter OVA

Gall Force: New Era OVA
The Gall Force series was mostly a decent affair, though Earth Chapter was a weaker entry to end the series on. 3.5/5, 3/5, 3/5, 3/5, 2.5/5
