Yaoi and Yuri

I like Yuri manga, Michelle aka Manga Minx got me into it by sending me some Shake Sweet (originally called Strawberry Shake I believe) and I was hooked, love the story and the characters.
Chrono I think your being a bit harsh (or its sarcasm I can't tell), i think the audiences want to see characters engaged in the same things they are and the stories I have read have been very sweet. Although I have only read Yuri and Yaoi doesn't interest me in the slightest i think there is definately a place for it.

It depends on the context. Yuri and Yaoi can be good and a nice new angle to the often clichéd genre of romance. It doesn’t really matter though because its the story and the characters that matter. Even so being a heterosexual male Yaoi doesn’t really do it for me :wink:
I think the distinction needs to be made between them and Hentai because they are not the same, as long as they stick to the happy bunnies’ side of Hentai I'm fine with them, treed into the tentacle zone and I say 'no thanks'.

Agreed. Although I haven't read much Yaoi I didn't really like it, but it wasn't THAT bad. I haven't read any Yuri though.
Where I'm not a fan of either, I still think its fine to put into manga.etc Its a topic that is rather popular now in general, not just manga. I mean, no offense, but I hate the thought of someone of the same sex coming on to me, but I don't feel that they should disciminated against.
As said it opens new paths for the story to take, so I'm for it, but its not something I'd read unless it got a good recommendation.

I'm not a fan of Hentai, so I wouldn't go for Yuri or Yaoi.
I wouldn't take that away from anyone else though. Just cuz I'm not a fan of it, doesn't mean others dont enjoy it.
I do support shonen/shojou-ai though (a.k.a. non-sexual homosexual relationships). Being a normal hetro, I'd probably find shojou-ai more attractive, but I've not had much chance to read much of either. Where shows like My-Hime have those relationships in it, it's not a shojou-ai focused anime.
So even though I don't discriminate between the homosexualities, I still wouldn't want to see mangas or anime with sex in. But that goes for boy-girl sex too.

I honestly see no difference between a romantic story with two lads or two girls and a romantic story with a lad and a girl.
As long as the story/animation/drawing/whatever is good and i can enjoy it,does it matter?
