Interesting thought - but I don't think there's any connection... as far as I know. Kamome Shirahama studied Design at the University of Tokyo and also draws for Marvel, DC and Star Wars. (The Gosick manga was drawn by Sakuya Amano.)
 
I just read volume 1 recently and have been looking forward to reading more. It’s nice to hear that the series keeps going well because I like the premise and cast quite a bit, so I’d been crossing my fingers it doesn’t fall flat at some point.
