who's been to japan?

I don't smoke, and that actually made going to Tokyo last year a bit weird with being used to the smoking ban in the UK, so smokers should feel right at home. ^_^

As far as money goes, if you can't make do with £4k (I presume you're talking sterling) then there's something wrong, even with the pound in the shitter atm.
 
I hate smoking but yeah, what they said. You'll be fine. There are some areas you can't smoke in but most of the places it sounds as though you like will be absolutely cool with it.

And the money will be fine too, clothes aren't cheap sometimes and the exchange rate sucks but if you need any more than that you'll struggle to get any of it home anyway!

Honestly it's not particularly more expensive than London if you ignore the obvious tourist trap food places and don't go too crazy for rare things.

im not really pushed on the rare things... altho i wudnt mind picking up a jap eva boxset some other anime sets, some manga and stuff... but i really really want lots and lots of clothes lol just so when i get home and people ask where i got that cute as **** t-shirt i can say "oh this??? tokyo! sorry u cant have one" ^_^
