Pretty much anything by Akira Kurosawa. He has influenced so many western films (seven samurai = the magnificent seven, hidden fortress = star wars etc).
Dark water was also interesting. Can't understand why Hollywood has to re-make all these films. Are they totally devoid of originality and inspiration?
and as already mentioned - Battle Royale..top notch. Shame no.2 was sooo pants....
Too many people on here are mentioning non-Japanese films. I would have thought Anime fans would have been able to tell the difference! :roll:
