what will you all do to your manga and anime collection if you suddenly thaught that your too old for it
i recently turned 16 and i think im going off anime and manga

well, a while ago i felt like you do.
so i took a break from it for a couple of months, then stuck a dvd of Fullmetal alchemist on, and i was hooked again.

don't know if that helps, but taking a short break helped me.

I got through the "I'm bored" stage but it goes away very fast so i never think of selling or getting rid of a thing.

If I'd have sold some stuff and then hated myself for ruining my collection

I only feel that way if I'm watching crap anime. I ask myself; "Is it me or what I'm watching?". I watch something good, "Yup, it was what I was watching".

Well, if you think you're "too old" for anime/manga at 16, then I'm pretty sure you're watching the wrong stuff!

I've only been uber-obsessed with anime/manga for a few months, and I've never gotten bored with it! ^_^

I've have been going on and off with it for a while, Still.. I buy the stuff - I watch and read the stuff. I don't see it going away, I just need to change some of the stuff I'm watching and limit it, So now I need to finish off some things I'm mid-way through reading/watching and I'll be good to go again.

As CitizenGeek said, if you're growing out of the anime that you are watching, maybe consider looking into some other genres, anime you wouldn't have watched when you first started. Most of your anime Shounen? Try a Shoujo series like Nana, or Paradise Kiss. Most of it violent blood-fests? Try a calming slice of life series like Kamichu.

I am probably one of the oldest on here at 34, I have been into anime on and off for probably something around 20 years, so I don't think you ever get too old (just look at Jonathan Ross). What you may need to do is change what you watch, if you are used to the bits on kids TV like Pokemon and Yugioh maybe it is time to give something a bit more thought provoking like the Ghibli films a go. We all have our favourite genres (not big on giant robots myself) but sometimes it is worth borrowing or hiring somthing you would not normally watch.

I used to feel like this too, but then I watched Boku no Piko and it changed me, FOREVER. >_>

Yeah, I used to question why I even began to like anime and manga, but then I just realized I was getting bored of crappy Shounen series and decided to branch out more, watching short OVAs is very good, not getting attatched to characters is fun.

I "get bored" from time to time, and it can be when I'm watching a really good series, I find it's normally because I'm in the mood for something else. So I normally slap on Patlabor or Macross Plus, and I'm all warm and fuzzy inside again.

I say this, but I'm still too scared to try and watch the Ah My Goddess Movie again, I'm a huge fan and felt the movie was terrible, but at the time (a few years back now) I was in a crappy mood. I was scared I'd gotten bored of the whole thing, the OAV sorted me out though.

I just need to not be scared of my DVD.

I hope this never happens to me. I'm 23 and still loving anime. I understand what you mean tho. I've definately had my moments where I've got bored or didn't feel bothered. A break from it usually does the trick for me though. Maybe your tastes are just changing, like everone else, we all have our own tastes.

Well, one thing's for sure, your never too old to enjoy anime :D

Woah. I've watched it more probably less than 10 times but more than 5, and I could easily watch it again right now! I need another movie of the same quality seriously badly!
