What have you learn about Japan from watching anime?

-The longer your hair, the stronger you are.
-5 minutes can last for hours.
-If someone you loved killed your family, you'll still love them
-some robots are bigger than galaxies
 
- If you're male, act aloof, have a stupid haircut and attend highschool (or pilot a mecha) bug eyed women will be magnetised to you.

- Among said bug eyed women, at least one will be a maid/orphan/ghost/cute robot/have magical powers or pilot a mecha.

- Ascertaining the colour of girls panties takes priority over all other concerns.

- Not finishing sentences is percieved as being deeply insightful, while knowing EXACTLY what someone is going to say and finishing their sentence is also common practice.

- Whenever someone evil dies, there's a 4 in 5 chance they'll be resurrected with twice the power. Prepare yourself.

- 95% of the population is made up of people between the age of 14-17. The elderly and middle aged are advised to stay out of sight unless they are villanous, part of a gag or filling out important exposition.

- If you're not screaming out an attack's name at the top of your lungs it won't work.
 
It's okay to have 50 pictures of a particular girl you like at school, and not be considered a sex fiend or obsessive.

Girls are complete klutzes with two left feet who'll constantly fall over in the name of panty flashing.

Complicated emo boys will always be friends with perverted upbeat guys who wear glasses.

Falling into water is okay, not only will you not catch hypothermia, but sometimes you won't even be wet when you come out 5 seconds later. And you'll never worry about the additional water-soaked mass slowing you down.

Getting kicked under the chin for being a letch will likely send you 90 feet into the air, but will never prove fatal.

But catching a cold will have the girl who kicked you suddenly so concerned and thoughtful, that it may seem as if you have a fatal illness.
 
That was pretty literal! But surely you must have already known Japanese people speak a diffrerent language from us. Unless by that you meant that you have learnt to speak Japanese through watching anime??

I found this rather funnier than it probably is, probably due to how plausible the scenario is.
 
I learned that the Japanese have the same words for "melody", "pony", "back", "euphoria" and "rainbow" as we do in English, albeit pronounced differently.
 
Perverts are common in japan.... (actually as soon as i heard about the panty machines that sell worn panties rather than snacks i've wondered if japan really is just perverse as they say)

A girl can be attacked by monsters but never eaten. a guy can be eaten or killed within first 5mins.

cats say "Nya" and the famous cat from Trigun seems to have cameo's in other shows.

Somehow the boundaries of normal high school don't apply to anime, a jock, nerd, air head and a pint sized person can all be friends together without having a problem with each other

I'm sorry this is not true
Can think of two examples:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Tatarigoroshi-hen (curse killing) has Rikas corpse being eaten by crows
Puella Magi Madoka Magika, episode 3, Mami is decapitated then eaten on screen

Because I am such a kind soul, I will warn people that those spoilers are for Higurashi, and FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY the second one is a huge spoiler for the third ep of Madoka Magica.
