I'd say Mass Effect 2 is probably the best one, it's lacks the unfortunate ending of 3 and the combat is more fun than the first game. It's not perfect, the third game probably had better "friendship routes" for some of the characters (especially if you count Citadel) and the story is still a bit silly at times, but overall it's probably the strongest entry (unless you really really liked the Mako, perhaps).I wouldn't be surprised if there's a super remastered version of the full series released at some point (at least for the consoles). It should be interesting to see what the new game is like (it apparently has a new Mako, yay!).
