Just watched the first three episodes of the shield. It ain't too bad, but it lacks the gritty realism of a HBO produced show. I've only watched the first episode of the wire, but teh shield really does pale in comparison to it.

Looks like I'll be stopping on series 1 of the shield and just buying the wire when it drops down to £18 again on amazon.
