What are the best websites for buying physical anime media and merch for delivery inside the USA?

(Reposting because my title was inaccurate) Apologies if this question has been answered before. I had a scroll back through historical posts, and I saw variations on this question, but not this question exactly.

I have some American colleagues who are coming to the UK in the summer. There's about 20 anime blu ray box sets that they've kindly said they can buy for me and bring over for me. Hooray! A nice saving on postage costs!

What are the best websites please that I should look at? And are there any regular sale periods that I should keep an eye out for? Are there any anime merch websites that I should look at? And is there anything else I should consider that isn't captured in those questions?

Again, sincere apologies if this is a duplication of another thread. Very grateful to you all for advice.

For US-based anime shopping, I've had great experiences with RightStufAnime - they frequently run sales (their birthday sale in July and holiday sales in December are massive), and their packaging is excellent for protecting box sets. Sentai Filmworks also runs amazing direct sales a few times a year where you can get titles for 50-70% off.

For merchandise, AmiAmi ships to the US with reasonable rates, and you can often find exclusive items there. Crunchyroll Store is decent for more mainstream merch with free shipping on orders over $100.

One thing to consider - make sure your American friends check the region coding on any Blu-rays you're interested in, as US (Region A) and UK (Region B) are different. Most modern anime Blu-rays are region-free, but it's worth verifying before purchasing.

You do realise that RightStuf don't exist any more?

It's funny that you mention RightStuf, considering that they shut down in October 2023, with their business being moved over to the Crunchyroll store since then.

I can't believe I forgot that but tbf I haven't bought from RS since years before they closed and have never actually bought from the Crunchyroll store (though I was tempted when they offered a rly big discount on that Rei figure from Eva rebuild!) :)
