The North American anime distributor Viz Media has announced that it will begin streaming the latest episodes of the Naruto Shippūden anime sequel within a week of their Japanese broadcast premiere — for free — on January 15. The next latest episode will be added with English subtitles every Thursday thereafter.

In addition, the official Naruto.com website will stream the first eight episodes of Naruto Shippūden for free on January 2. The website will add eight more episodes every Friday thereafter until all of the earlier episodes are online. Naruto.com is already streaming the episodes of the first Naruto ninja action series, and its ad-supported streams are available to users in the United States and Canada.

A step in the right direction, but still not enough to prise me away from DB every Tuesday and Thursday night.

Well, it's going to do jack **** to get me from not downloading the Subbs because it's another region cock block.
You can get around the region block rubbish with an official add on for Firefox. It's not specifically for avoiding region blocking but it does it just as well.

That's nice to know but it still doesn't do much to make me feel any less aprehensive about the whole deal if I can't do it without efectively changing my system for it...

There's this too;
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-11-17/tv-tokyo-to-also-stream-naruto-through-crunchyroll
The Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo has announced that it will begin streaming English-subtitled episodes of the Naruto anime series, about one hour after their Japanese broadcast, to paid monthly subscribers worldwide on the Crunchyroll video service on January 8, 2009.

Crunchyroll will then provide free Internet streaming of the episodes seven days after the paid subscribers see them. This coincides with when the online video services Joost and Hulu are providing their own free streaming of the same episodes via Viz Media. Viz Media announced earlier today that it will also begin hosting free streams of the new episodes on the official Naruto.com website on January 15.

Also;
On January 8, Crunchyroll will stop accepting user-submitted videos and other content from individuals, and only host videos approved by copyright holders. Gonzo and Toei Animation are two other major Japanese copyright holders of anime that decided to stream on Crunchyroll.
So CR are going legit then?

It's a minor plugin that can be disabled and enabled at the click of a button. It's hardly changing your system.

Well yes, but it's still a stick up the bum that our american "Cousins" don't need to have up there.

Bah bet me to posting this =/ Ah well. Its a nice idea, but from how slow Shippuden actually goes(i hear) and the fact that i'm up-to-date with the manga, it wouldn't interest me that much anyways.

Looks like it, but you could see it coming.

Now if only the Royal Mint would endorse my money counterfeiting operation, I'd get to keep all my ill gotten gains and have no fear of prosecution...

::sigh::

Remember kids, crime doesn't pay. Unless it's copyright related and on the internet.

This news is irrelevant to people in the UK.

The Crunchyroll news is not though:

So Naruto Shippuuden's gonna get dubbed? I wouldn't mind seeing it... Deidara's voice surprised me. It weren't half bad! Though -I'm sure- his voice actor is the voice behind another character in Naruto. I just can't rememebr what >_<. I'm curious as to what Sasori will sound like though.

I'll probably only watch this for a few episodes before giving up and continuing with the horribly slow-paced sub.

Just because they used an actor to do him when he was hiding in the background doesn't mean that'll be his real VA. For example, in episode 29 of Naruto Skip Stellrecht voiced Itachi when Sasuke was thinking of him, but in Itachi's physical debut as a character he was voiced by Crispin Freeman.

Seems this is the real deal, DB are apparently stopping their subs of Naruto on January 15th.

uh huh

and if you believe anything DB say then the world has ended 3 times and Lizards control the whitehouse :D

I genuinely believe Dattebayo are earnest in their announcement.

And I never, ever thought I'd hear myself say that. (Though I didn't; I typed it.)

Yeah, this announcement seemed considerably less sarcastic than their usual trolls - writing such a long and detailed post would be a little much for a Joke.

Still, it is DB..
