viridian collection

I think it more comes down to the popularity f a dvd collection than a set date so if there is demand a viridian edition is published otherwise only the basic one will exist
 
I am not sure on this will have to check the difference between releases dates of the original and the viridian editions, but I would presume it is going to be in the range of 3-6 months after the last volume release of the original as with many things like box sets. I would presume it would also work on how popular a series is if it is still shifting a good quantity at full price they may put off releasing the viridian version until they need to boost intrest/sales.
 
I am sure they said something akin to "they will try to wait at least a year" before a series was released to box and the more popular ones will be released in boxes first.
 
What the heck is a Viridian Collection? How does it differ to a normal DVD collection, i.e. "Perfect/Complete" collections?

The Viridian collections are the cut-price boxed sets released by FUNimation.

Not just box sets though because they do the single DVDs for some series. So it is basically the same as Geneon/Pioneer used to do with its signature series, except Funimation use recycled card cases. I have the Spiral set and it is only slightly wider than a single DVD case so great for storage space, not so great was that the case has creased in the post.
