UPDATED: Manga UK Announces Recall of High School DxD BorN

Who cares? This is so pointless... can't imagine anyone can be botherd to return it for a stupid reason like that.

It does sound like a legal issue for the company more than the consumer. For just a bit of rebranding of the age, few would bother at all sending it back for a new copy. But since it's a mistake on age certificates, the company must have to do something or suffer legal consequences.

I can appreciate retailers returning unsold stock, but a consumer recall does sound pretty heavy handed tbh. I guess the intent may be to reduce the amount of mis-labelled copies on the second hand market?

There will undoubtedly be lots of people who just don't return theirs though. Too much hassle for no real gain for them.

also at a time the country is supposed to be in lockdown, they could've just got people to send them a photo of their destroyed discs and sent them out a new pair

If anything I expect people will choose to keep their mis-labelled copies for the novelty of it.

Update from the BBFC:

We re-classified High School DxD BorN 18 for sexualised images, nudity in 2020. Since 2016, our Classification Guidelines have changed. Our large scale research in 2018 found that attitudes towards sexual threat and sexual violence have moved on. People also told us that they expect the strongest sexual material, in particular material that uses the language of pornography, to be classified at 18. Our guidelines reflect this demand, so we reclassified the series 18.

The British Board of Sausage Rolls at it again. Why even bother resubmitting something now if they're likely to change the rating? As far as I understand it's not actually necessary to resubmit unless the material itself has changed.
Makes me wonder though if places like CEX would accept trade ins.
This is the same CeX that sell unrated foreign discs, discs with inserts made on a laser printer and (at least in the past) bootlegs?

My local branch are real sticklers for it. They refuse to take in steelbooks for example as they generally lack the age rating.

I'm not even sure that's necessary, since I didn't think the law mandated second-hand media display a BBFC rating, unless this has changed.

Yeah I've had a few CE go to Cex and sent back because there is no BBFC, I have also recieved some CE with just a BBFC sticker, So I can't for the life of me work out how they can't just get some BBFC stickers and accept them and use a sticker. But yeah I now try and save the odd BBFC sticker incase I do decided to sell anything there way.
I can assume it's because they want to make it easier for staff (and I surpose consumers who are under age) to know if the can sell it to some one or not because they look under age. I assume it's like booze and selling to under age can get you fines.

I'm actually trying to offload my Resident Evil 2 steelbook since I upgraded from PS4 to PC. Hoping Game will take it whenever they reopen.
