A trailer for Kyoto Animation’s latest project She Has Adolescent Delusions, but I want to Love Her is streaming on the official website or the anime. The anime is based on what comedian Hikaru Ijūin terms “Chū-2 byō” or “middle-school second-grade disease” which covers adolescent thoughts that teenagers have like delusions of grandeur.

Synopsis

Yūta Togashi is a boy who used to suffer from something called “Chū-2 byō”. However he outgrew this phase when he entered high school. His girlfriend Rikka Takanashi still has this problem but things are ticking along nicely between the two of them until, wouldn’t you know it, another cute girl who used to be Togashi’s friend in middle school appears and she is also suffering from the same syndrome. She is Satone Shichimiya and she will cause all sorts of chaos.

This anime is based on Torako’s novel of the same name which received an honourable mention in the novel category at the first Kyoto Animation Award program. Kyoto Animation began publishing the novel with illustrations by studio animator Nozomi Ousaka.

The anime is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Air, K-ON!) with series composition orchestrated by Jukki Haneda (Steins;Gate). It will air this October.

Had a couple of discussions re: eyepatches while I was in Japan, that on top of the KyoAni-ness is more than enough hype for now.

I certainly expect She Has Adolescent Delusions to be well animated and easily develop the characters. The problem i've had with recent Kyoto Ani projects is that they haven't surprised me in a while, I want them to offer something new rather than play it safe all the time.

Compared to the strong line-up next season, this isn't anywhere near my must watch list.

Seems harsh, Hyouka isn't the sort of low-key series I expected to get animated after all this time, although I guess with the number of series that have taken influences from it it doesn't seem as gutsy as it is. Plus I think people got upset when they did something "surprising" with E8. ^^;

I should probably have a closer look at next season though, if KyoAni is far down your list!

Hey, Remember that days when KyoAni were associated with doing interesting things? Things like Fumofu, Second Raid and Haruhi

Yeah, those were the days.

This is the same pap they've been punting out since Endless Eight though. There was litterly one shot (her pulling her eyepatch off to reveal her "Geass" Thingy) that had me intrested and everything else was a blur. I'll bet anything that'll be one scene. There to string unfortunates into watching this nonsense.

Kinda harsh to write things off after 1 trailer tbh. I make note of a new show and will revistit at a later date once there's something to actually watch.
