Top anime from the last year

i havent watched a new series since i caught the end of black lagoon last year. I'm looking for the top shows from last year to this current moment in time. i will watch anything, but im only really interested in those big name shows that were considered a success as i dont have the time for drivel at the moment.

so guys, whats worth watching?
 
In addition to Gurren Lagann and Dennou Coil, I'd recommend both Baccano! and Toward the Terra as excellent series. More than worth looking up The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Tekkonkinkreet if your not opposed to movies as well.

Finally, Studio Bones are absolutely owning 2008. Aside from Madhouse's Kaiba, they've produced three of this years best anime so far (Bounen no Xamdou, Soul Eater and The Daughter of 20 Faces), and from what little I've seen of michiko to hatchin's promo-art, that's looking like a winner too. In particular, Bounen no Xamdou is almost too good to believe.

Knowing your tastes Paul i'll have to look out all these series.

It depends what you're into, really, but I'd definitely recommend Gurren Lagann from last Spring, and Soul Eater, still currently airing.
Other special mentions go to Ookiku Furikabutte, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (and it's sequel, 'Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei'), Baccano!, Lovely Complex, and Kodomo no Jikan.

I'll watch anything, but i'm fed up watching mediocre shows at the moment. time is at a premium.
