Toonami UK move to live action

Taking advantage of the recent reshuffle of the Sky Digital EPG and changing channel numbers, Cartoon Network UK's Toonami (who broadcast several anime series aimed at kids and early teens) have announced their intentions to acquire and broadcast more live action comdies, dramas and soaps.

“Now that Toonami is well established and moving to its new position we are broadening its appeal. It will be the natural choice for pre-teen boys and girls looking for a general mix of entertainment from a channel that they can feel is their own,â€

note the whole thread about in chit chat forum :p

seriously if they don't change names now i'm sueing them for false advertisement

toonandlivetvami should be its new name

I'm wondering if this change is intended to capture the audience from the old 'Trouble' channel now that it has moved out of the 'Kids' band?

'Parker Lewis Can't Lose' features Colin Nemec several years before his stint in Stargate SG-1 (s6) so must be at least 10 years old - probably more. How old are the rest of their live action shows?

[Lights candle in memory of CNX]
[Lights additional candles for Gundam Wing, Dragonball, Tenchi, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Ultimate Muscle, Shaman King, Megaman, Digimon, Chris Colorado - and all the lost anime(or franime) series...however badly dubbed]

I don't think it's really fair to insist they change their name if you're still happy to let Manga carry on trading under their name... :D

Toonami sucks, they started with such promise. Don't the kids get enough live action on Nikelodeon? Of course Justice League has finished completely now, so that'll be another cartoon gone for good once they've finished repeating it.

But, i have a plan...lets all get jobs inside the Cartoon Network company and take it over and put all the anime shows we like on!!

then again CNX (the greatest channel on sky ever!) tried this play before snuffing it! i dont see why they cant just shove that crap onto another version of cartoon network instead of lumbering toonami with live action 'comedy' and shows that it doesnt want anymore. or better still just give us [adultswim], or a version of it! oh yeah, is Cartoon Network Too just going to be the +1 or as they say 'a completely new channel'

Well maybe they should, It does confuse some people. But then they have been trading under that name for years.

I ain't gonna be watching Toonami anymore except for Teen Titans and Justice League. The other crap doesn't deserve my time. Plus they'll be one viewer down for their live action styff.

And like Ryo Chan said, it can't be called Toonami anymore...and over the last year Toonami's just become a repeat channel for Cartoon Network. What you see on there you see and hour later on CN+1 then the next day on Toonami...

Given how big Toonami still is across the pond in the US, the way the UK has handled the channel is nothing less than utterly disappointing. Naruto is amongst the hottest cartoon series in the world right now; why is it not here yet?

Incidently, I'm also holding out some blind hope that this Cartoon Network Two is going be a little more ambitious than Toonami when it comes to investing long term faith in anime of the more mature variety.

Anyone remember the C4 Top 100 cartoons in which a Toonami employee commented on all the anime like Akira, Mononoke and all the rest? Where did it all go wrong.

CN 2 is just normal CN repeted a day later

Toonami's, or rather Turner's, decision to go for more live action stuff is rather strange in some ways. 'Trouble' which used to show the same sort of thing has just fled the band, whereas Rapture's highest rated programmes are the FMA, Wolf's Rain reprise.

I'm sure something like 'Naruto' would a better Sponge Bob killer than Parker Lewis.

Me too - but I'm not holding my breath.

Trouble moved to the entertainment section of the EPG during the Re-shuffle on the 28th of feb. It's now at 201 and 202.

Toonami was Crap anyway, CNX was 10x better

At least Rapture are showing anime now, decent anime not edited DBZ and beyblade

I was really dissapointed in what they're doing when I saw the adverts on TV. Why is it called TOONami when they are puting live action and sport(?) shows on? Plus they look pretty...old...
A huge let down. D:

Toonami, goes cheap... I've seen every episode of Megas XLR three times over but I'd rather watch it another three times than any of their new schedule.
I miss edited DBZ and Gundam Wing. Something is better than nothing (well apart from One Piece).
