What is Tokonatsu?
It is a unique festival within UK Anime in which we all gather to discuss and enjoy Anime and Manga in the great outdoors. At the Tokonatsu UK Anime Festival there will be a variety of events including Anime screenings, Workshops, a Quiz, DDR & the always popular Otaku Royal! We are also preparing some specialist events for those of the Cosplay community not normally seen at a normal UK anime convention. (Taken from the Website)

Will there be Dealers?
Yes! They have not comfirmed anything yet but they have dealers.

When is it?
28th to the 30th of July 2006.

Where?
Woburn, England, which is only 20 minutes from the M1 & Milton Keynes Train station.

How much?
Read this for more info!

It says if I have a tent it'll cost less... I have a tent!
Bring it! Also if you are willing to share (if you have a tent that fits more than 1 or 2 people) please post here saying so! Every little helps :D

I don't have a tent but I don't wanna spend that much to borrow one!
Not much I can do there, sadly, but if people pitch (get it?) in who have their own tents and don't mine sharing all you gotta do then is speak to that person or ask me to speak to them for you to see if they are willing to let you share.

Whats the Venue like?
Click here for information and some photographs!

Can I have the link to their site?

So anyone interested? If several of us all want to go, we could make a meet of it, & tent share or something.

Erk. Registration. :(

This one's a bit of a toughy because I'm actually closer to Woburn than the ExCel Centre. It sounds good though, and if we have time we can go to the safari park :D

Don't put me down as a cert yet though

Toko is the cheapest 'proper' anime convention running, because of the fact it is camping.

?

Depends on where you live, any con can be very cheap if you live right next door to it.

If you ignore accommo, then I don't think it is *goes off to research*

The base cost of attending (entry + accomodation on-site) for Toko is the cheapest of any proper UK anime convention. All the other anime cons are held in hotels or university grounds, & usually cost at least double, usually triple the base amount of Toko. Transport is not counted in this, as that variable is dependant upon the circumstances of the individual. However, Toko is reasonably central, & thus easier to reach for more people than some other conventions, notably Auchinawa & Tomo-Dachi, which both serve areas otherwise isolated from other conventions by probitively high cost of travel.

Travel costs to NI or Scotland are certainly not prohibitive.

But Toko is great just because it does things differantly, differant than any other con out there. Toko's prices are in the range other cons could only dream of (I did my homework). But then again, I don't fancy living in a tent for a weekend, and I value enclosed enviroments, unless its a very hot summer's day.

Given the choice between tent and hotel/shelted acco, and given the price difference, I would probally opt for hotel/shelted acco.

Plus, I'm paranoid about thieves and such, which would probally eat away at me at Toko.

I was at Wildercon '04*, & there was no thieving. The important thing is to share a tent with people you trust, which I did.

*(Tokonatsu used to be called Wildercon, until committee member 'Yaz Jung' pulled off a bit of a coup, gaining control off all the convention's assets & almost grounding it two weeks before it was to go ahead. He gave in in the end, but the rest of the committee took a new name for the con & parted ways with Yaz.)
