Thunderbirds 2086

Hi everyone, forgive me as this is my first post, but I was after some information.

After a prolonged chat to friends about anime from the 80s in the UK we got on to the subject of Thunderbirds 2086. We can all recall enjoying it, so I went on to Amazon to see if there was a DVD (I thought it would look good next to my Mysterious Cities of Gold DVD) and was surprised to find that all they had was a few second-hand VHS copies.

Does anyone know if Thunderbirds 2086 is available to buy on DVD anywhere? Or if Scientific Rescue Team Technvoyager is avaialable with subtitles?

Apologies if I'm asking in the wrong place, but you guys look like the experts to ask!

many thanks

John :)

I have a tape I got cheap from a corner newsagent, but never seen it on DVD. In fact, until I spotted that tape I thought I'd made the series up (I once entered a competition to design a Thunderbirds cartoon and though I'd already seen one).

I remember this show!

It was one of the first shows to get me interested in anime - at a VERY early age, too.

I've often wondered if it was out there on DVD somewhere.

It did have a UK VHS release, I saw it at the charity store but didn't bother to pick it up, I do regret it.

I remember hearing about this a long time ago and wanting to see it, anime meets Thunderbirds sounds full of win to me. Too bad there's no DVD =(

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I managed to some research on Thunderbirds 2086 mainly thanks to an article in the excellent http://www.cerealgeek.com/ magazine.

While I won't reprint the whole article here, it turns out there were 24 episodes in total, six more than the original run of Technoboyger (I got the spelling of this wrong in my original post) most of which had John Barry's incidental score from the original Thunderbirds supporting it. The production shared key personnel with Macross (Robotech) too and featured some of the earliest computer graphics seen in anime.

I reckon that means it deserves a DVD release! I know Network DVD handle a lot of ITC Entertainment's output. Might be worth dropping them an email...
