Just Passing Through
The Wildcard
Revelation's problem is Funimation. Revelation are/were just distributing for them. Funimation told them what to do, what to release and when to release it. If they told them not to release something that was it, hands tied. The hiatus in 2008/9, and the one this year are Funimation telling them to stop. Why else would Revelation announce this current hiatus with the addendum that if fans want to know when their series will be completed, make a noise to Funimation, as they obviously don't know when they'll be allowed to release any more.
The world will be a lot better when Funimation (Navarre) grows up, as right now, they're in the business of getting all the toys and sitting on them, going nyah, nyah, nyah at everyone else. Of course it's sound business sense to get all the Region 2 Europe distribution rights, sit on them, and get as much direct cash from imports first.
Funi took all their toys away from MVM when they got bought out by Navarre, and gave them to Revelation (another Navarre company). Now they've taken them away from Revelation and aren't letting anyone play. I just hope Manga are big enough to have a 'don't screw with us' clause in their contract with 'em, although last year's last minute pulling of Always My Santa doesn't hint at that. Failing that, I'll just have to hope that Manga keep making enough money to keep the FuniMonster fed and happy.
The less said about their streaming service the better.
