This is an adaptation of Joroku Inumura’s popular light novel published in 2008. The production staff includes director Jun Shishido (Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger), script-writer Satoko Okudera (Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) and character designer Hidenori Matsubara (Ah! My Goddess!/Sakura Wars) who adapted Haruyuki Morisawa’s original light novel illustrations. There are also veterans who have worked on series such as Appleseed, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, and Sakura Wars.

The film was theatrically released in Japan in October and will receive a blu-ray and DVD release on the 24th of February 2012 in Japan.

I look forward to this greatly. :s

I still weirdly feel like I missed out the showing at SLA, even though I wouldn't have been going anyway.

Definitely a shame, not to say there's no chance of a theatrical screening of this though entirely :).

You should totally come this October - the line-up already promises to be something impressive :D.

Barring some kind of scheduling catastrophe, SLA is top of my list of events to make sure I attend this coming year, for sure.

Cool! I'll let folks know the dates plenty in advance this year as everything should be clear by late Spring actually. Line-up announcement likely to be start of August all going well - so take that as tentative for now ;)!

Give me a shout though if you are - would be good to put a face to the screen name :).

One seems to vaguely recall the central couple from elsewhere.

You have actually met me - at last year's October Expo - although you wouldn't have any reason to know this. ^^; I was one of the (hopefully multiple) people who made a point of telling you what a great initiative the UK DRRR!! release was at some point, after having posed a question regarding streaming in the UK during the panel on the Saturday (extreme memory test to remember me from that, granted).
