Looking forward to that, and more Anime Legends. That's about it I think, I won't be holding my breath for Manga's "Big License".

My Guess on the possible title to be licensed would be Monster with it release date just being announced in the states. Which be good title but it still no ONE PIECE :(.

Not at present anyway, but it's also not a strongly requested title unlike Lucky Star.

This isn't the case, however I have crunched numbers and a title like Lucky Star just wouldn't work in that format based on the amount you have to pay for fresh titles as it is still pretty new. Therefore you have to pay a fee per episode and a good royalty rate on everything you sell for that series. This means it would be sold at a loss for even £29.99 as a set unless you sold a ridiculous number of sets.

So don't discount the possibility - but at the same time just don't expect that for £24.99 in a boxset first off if it came out :)!

Crikey, they sure have rushed along with these Naruto releases, eh?

So they should. Remember, we are still several years behind releasing this. They are probably being pressured to releasing it on account of all the shippuden merchandise and manga being shovelled out at a similar rate.

Chanbara Striptease that's good I enjoyed Chanbara Beauty it was quite well done and I'd happily buy the sequel. Though it's got a different cast unfortunaly.

Anyone know the original title for Tokyo Gore School just telling the English title isn't very helpful.

None of the anime news really interests me.

As I said before on anime legend thread:

"Looking at all the cost involved it would be impossible for BEEZ to release a 24-26 episode series directly into Anime Legend format and keep £24.99 price tag. The only new titles I could image would be Movies/short OVA's or maybe at a very long shot a 13 episode box set.

Plus think about it, Anime Legends is a re-release format so why market a new title directly in this format when it never been released here before. When BEEZ are more about high quality product why release directly into cheaper format when you can release into more high quality version first then into cheaper release later on."

Yeah, I'll admit I'd actually forgotten just how long Shippuden had been running for, but still I feel like they've done a great job catching up.

Indeed, an excellent job (on the whole) with Naruto releases Manga. I have only bought the first 2 series boxes so far and (if I recall correctly) my only complaint is the same that I have with alot of Manga titles - No on-screen text subtitles track. :( This being the reason I shall be importing SOME series of Mangas in Region 1, or 4, if necessary.

When you say "sequel series to My-HiME" I shall assume you are referring to My-Otome. Personally, I thought Otome was FAR better than HiME, in just about every way. Infact, and this really suprised me, I would consider buying it despite the fact that I tend not to buy that sort of show at that length.

No offence meant Dave, but I do think you're being a little too adamant you know what's going on (though I'll admit I don't know either) when Andrew er, definitely does know what's going on.

If a big series like Lucky star can't be possible on Anime legend what chance of any other 26 new licensed episode series to appear on anime legend got?

Its not that I knowing what going at BEEZ, it simply common sense that releasing a new 26 episode series to direct at £24.99 price tag wouldn't be feasible for BEEZ. Andrew already said that already in the case with a series of that length: lucky stars. Also it not like a lot of series get cheaper with age when MANGA said themselves they won't be licensing old titles from VHS age because them being too expensive.

The surprise releases would probably be at best could be 13 episode series price at £24.99, something to match Manga first release price point.
But as I made the point before why release directly into Anime Legend first when you can do high quality release first then a cheap one later on.

Very true. Anime legends is supposed to be a cheaper release format, but is it a rule it has to be around 25 quid? Last time I've spoke to Andrew he did mention that he is definitely looking into releasing some stuff straight into Anime legends, but he never said it would be around 25 quid. Should we keep our hopes high? I'm not sure, but at least he said he is trying.

Thing is that if the exception of Manga, anime distributors are pretty much a one-man show.

Of course that I could have had one drink too much and imagined the whole thing... ;)

What Andrew is saying, I think, is that new, relatively expensive licenses such as Lucky Star won't be released straight to Anime Legends sets, at least not any time soon. But I certainly wouldn't be surprised if older shows such as Outlaw Star and Scrapped Princess made their debut in that format at some point next year.

I'd love to see some of the older Gundam series released in the UK maybe straight to the anime legends label as they are pretty legendary.

I won't hold my breath though. :(

Uncanny, I was actually about to login to quantify but you've again proved the voice of reason here :)!

Yes - effectively Lucky Star and it's ilk are all at least still within the 3+ year period where it is new and regardless of perception still popular in the licensors eyes. This means we'd have to pay an advance fee for each episode and that kind of thing is very hard to make back in a boxed set.

Older titles like Outlaw Star, Scrapped Princess and such though are more realistic as there is a better argument for waiving that fee (though it is still difficult to persuade licensors of).

In short watch this space, it involves tremendous amounts of work but I'm pushing for some surprises still ^^.

Thanks Andrew, it means i don't have to say as much, so AL would be like budget games for the PC/consoles etc.

Also it wouldn't have to be £25 per season, i'd happily pay £15-17 for half a season like XXX holic for example and Planetes (my current fave series).

But why release a brand new series into Anime Legend format so in way devaluing the product and stopping any chance to do a re-release to make extra money towards costs. When you could release it into better packaged version for 40-60 pound release first (i.e Cowboy Bebop Remix) then into Anime legend version later on.

I thought the whole point of Anime Legend was to create a cheap quality/cheap priced box set line which would stays roughly the same price through out the line. It make little sense to me if two title of similar length in this line are priced £25 and the other £50.

If MANGA a company who sell a lot more DVD's than BEEZ said that releasing a really old series like Cyber city Oedo 808 (that I would guess have RRP of £14.99-£19.99) would not be possible because high license costs. I am sorry to say I can't see Beez being able to getting newer & longer series to this Anime Legend format. Even if they did it won't be anywhere near the price point already set out by Anime Legend line.

Not wanting to put words into andrews mouth but..

Why risk tooling up for a full release of say scrapped princess in a full price series set, when most people who want it, already have it on R1 anime legends so will wait for the box price to drop and loose money?

May as well start with a "value"/"budget" release and not risk the cost of extra tooling.

Stack em high and sell em cheap... I don't think selling an old series for a lower price is devaluing the product, but selling the product at a price which means that importing is less of an incentive.

Why import the R1 for £17.99 when you can get the R2 version for £23.99 say? I (and probably many others) wouldn't spend £60 when i can get it for £17.99?
