The good the bad and the ugly

I have the first 21 volumes of these and i am up to date with the latest Bleach episode and have finished Naruto. I'm currently upto Ep.58 of Shippuden and at this point i feel that Manga-wise Naruto shades it, but anime-wise i would say Bleach was the better of the two, as the filler arcs tend to be better than the Naruto filler.

Uh they put a filler right in the middle of a fight

how is that better?

I admit that its frustratring but i prefer the Bleach Filler to the Naruto filler. And it's better having some decent filler rather than having nothing while the manga gets back ahead.

I was just annoyed by how clearly poorly placed they are by comparison
I liked the naruto fillers since they gave me episodes about my fave characters and made it longer yay!!

Though I suppose some bleach filler probably seems more like a actually interesting part of the story line like that captain thing that flashback one and the beach one wasn't really filler though

Oh and the best Shounen is probably Hunter X Hunter, unless you -need- fights that never end.

When you look at just how well Hunter X Hunter's director executed the series, it almost feels like an injustice when NARUTO--which I would argue isn't as excellently pulled off--garners such acclaim in the dimension of adaptations of a manga. Though I do like the fact that Hunter X Hunter isn't quite as well recognised.

Not to say NARUTO is bad--far from it--but in terms of an anime adaptation, I am firmly in the mindset that Hunter just did it so much better, stylistically and otherwise.

Yes but naruto clearly deserves to be more well recognised
simply for actually being able to keep releasing chapters consistently
for the past 10 years

...No, Naruto does not deserve it. It deserve a 'discontinuation letter'. I read the chapters and keep thinking 'Why should I go through mediocre parts to get to the good parts?'. My answer... Why should it continue on forth?

There's nothing literally good about the anime or the manga. It's horrid and dire.

Or you could skip trash like Naruto and Bleach and watch something fun, like One Piece.

Good: OH ****, new season of Hajime no Ippo!?
Bad: The director of the old series is not working on it, WHAT!?
Ugly: The animation for the New Challenger, seriously.

Oh and the best Shounen is probably Hunter X Hunter, unless you -need- fights that never end.
Yeah the pacing was a little off and the animation was rather dated. New Challenger was still solid though. Takamura vs Hawk was epic.

matter of opinion i'd say, taka v hawk in the manga was epic but in the anime the direction just made it look ******* ridiculous, the red eye effect just borders on making the fight comical and takamura shadow clones as well as hawks stomach exploding blood spew don't help much :?

Gundam splitting anime fans? I doubt it, gundam can only split gundam fans. Evangelion on the other hand....

How does pokemon split anime fans down the middle?

perhaps naruto and bleach or gurren and evangelion
or even studio ghibli and some random unknown director

something stupid like that

Well yeah, but Hajime no Ippo was never exactly about realism. (inb4 wannabe boxers saying it is)

I haven't ever really watched a moe show before! what ones should i miss and which ones should i give a chance?
Lucky star as mentioned before, but there is also haruhi. Bear in mind Moe is more a stylistic quality of a show, rather than a genre in itself.
There are shows with little to no substance that can be classed as moe, such as Air, whose sole purpose is to offer viewers with something pretty, but not necessarily fanservice.

Heck- it's not hugely surprising, no shounen is, but it's fantastic.
Hikaru no go is. It's simply unbelievable that they managed to make such a great anime out of something that is the asian equivalent of chess. "Oh noes! he's gonna move the knight! don't do it!!!"

Also, after wtching it, I started playing go myself and rewatched a few matches and surprisingly, the moves on the games actually made sense.

One other thing is that it's an Obata manga, same artist from Death Note, if that says anything about the series.

Don't buy though. Viz fooled the fans by releasing 95% of the series and not releasing the last one or two volumes of the DVD's, which acutally put me off buying it from them :(

Mmm, slam dunk... I've never finished the series, as I was midway when I've moved to London and never picked that up again. I'll consider getting into it again as i clear a bit of my backlog.

I rather not have anything, if the quality doesn't match. Which IMO is the case of Naruto and Bleach. I prefer Bleach filler over Naruto, but recently the quality of the filller is not so good. The bount arc was enjoyable, as I didn't read the manga when I've seen it, I did actually beleive it was part of the manga storyline.

Hunter X Hunter, Berserk and Hajime no Ippo are samples of great anime that actually stopped when they caught up with the manga.

Ditto 1 - Hunter X Hunter is another great surprise in shounen. It have very litte in terms of fights, but it has an awesome story to compensate.

Ditto 2 - even the fillers are faithfull to the spirit of the original manga. It's very funny and have some of the greatests fight scenes ever in anime.
