I wish I could get a pet like a cat or dog but I'm uncertain my OCD can handle the messes they make and the hair makes me get a kind of OCD cough reaction thing as well sometimes like I'll freak out as if it's in my throat (I honestly don't believe it's an allergy as I don't get any other symptoms and it happens with lots of similar things not just cats and dogs). I also do understand they do cost money on food and vet's bills (and even if the pet is initially healthy there are basic checkups and neutering to consider). But I'm so lonely living alone and I would like to figure out a way to do it, does anyone have any advice? I have had cats and dogs before as a child (before my OCD became more pronounced) so I do have some idea of what is involved in living with one at least. While I think hairless breeds deserve as much love as any other ones I would prefer a cat or dog with fur myself, so other suggestions would be prob be better than that suggestion. I am more keen on a cat I think but I do also really like dogs a lot too :) One other concern I have with cats is that they can be very selective with their food, this would not annoy me (i'm autistic myself and we tend to be like that too!) but does concern me as far as being able to afford food they will eat (I know not all cats are like that but it happens fairly often from what I've heard). I would consider both rescue animals and raising from kitten or puppy, so any input anyone has there would also be appreciated :)
 
anyone have any experience with getting a PCB printed and having parts pre-soldered onto it? there's something i want to do and i think i have all the files for it but it's still all completely dutch to me
 
FYI for anyone that cares about Fate but doesn't play FGO. Now that the solomon arc has been animated there are youtube videos spoiling the ending in the video's title. FGO players will know the specific bit I am on about but I just wanted to give anyone not in the know a heads up.
 
got a CD from the charity shop the other day and only just opened it to find there's a bonus CD included in it but it's the opposite of a bonus because it's maroon 5

on another note i really like the newer CD cases, i wish they were kept around for longer instead of them switching to this cardboard garbage

They look even nicer in person, I definitely recommend getting a few of the glass coasters and making a few based on manga panels for instance. I'm considering getting more and just spreading them throughout the house.

Yeah this doesn't seem like the best idea - I'm opposed to ideas like a version of Instagram for children that are in the works but age verification for stuff like this seems draconian and OTT, with porn sites I can see the argument for age verification more and have more agreement with it than for social media sites, but my biggest concern is it means they can track your usage and build a profile of you (and I don't really feel that's right even speaking as a feminist who isn't super keen on porn and only very very occasionally looks at it) Also, possibly unpopular opinion time - it is normal for teenagers to look at some porn and I don't really think that being intensely alarmist about it is gonna convince them to stop doing it, I also question the possible links to anti-masturbation, anti-any-sexual-rights-or-autonomy-for-minors attitudes of some of the people involved in these campaigns, like if they really want to protect children maybe they could do something to stop them from getting arrested on child pornography charges for sharing nudes with each other when they are the same or almost the same age, and do more to prevent abuses like female genital mutilation. Also concerned by the degree of opposition to encrypted messaging that's coming from some child safety groups, for the record - while I sympathise with their concerns civil liberties like privacy are vital and it's not like horrible things didn't happen to children before the internet existed :( Would also note that I feel similarly about the increasingly excessive amount of verification required for online purchases, as I think it will make it very hard for those who already struggle with the internet or have limited access to it to buy things online. I think some of this speaks to the fact that some adults feel very uncomfortable with children doing anything not under adult supervision or building anything that is autonomously their own, and I'm sure some kids do use social media sites to fill a gap in their lives caused by lack of love or support from family or their immediate social surroundings. I'm not a covid skeptic or denialist but I think we've become even more bubbled off in little nuclear family units where the adults have more control, I do think that's partly linked to what's happened since early 2020, though I certainly don't think it's the only factor. I know I keep editing this post but I just have a lot of thoughts about all this. Also wanna note that in the recent case to restrict abortion rights further in the US the anti-abortion side questioned whether there was a right to privacy at all as part of their argument, and are heavily linked to people who want to reduce the legal protections for birth control users and people who have consensual same sex/same gender sex, and are hoping that the success of this recent case will make it easier for them to do these things as well - I'm not so hardcore left and us-vs-them that I'll never concede that anyone remotely right wing has a valid point to make about anything but I think this particular turn of events should concern all decent people (I mention it because it's relevant to the privacy rights thing and civil liberties and human rights more generally). And the mods are free to move this to the politics thread if they deem it appropriate, I'm sorry if it's gotten too far removed from general conversational topics. (finally I would like to apologise for my excessive use of the word also and the lack of paragraph breaks).

The kids & other users will simply bypass the age verification by using VPNs to pretend to be in another country to get their 'fix' of porn.

Like they probably already do for online streaming if a particular show is only available in America.

As for social media, they will find a way to bypass the age checks
 
Partly depends on what kind of case you want and probably how many you want. A cost for empty cases can be postage.
But there is probably a few people out there like me, who re-house there discs into cases that hold more discs or even just re-house to DVD wallets, and hence have spare cases.

UK 14mm 1 or 2/3 disc probably (or disc trays) you can probably find someone selling a bulk buy of them on ebay. You may not be as picky as me but there are some older generation of Amary cases that have, I'm gonna call prongs that when disc release is pushed makes an indent in the art work (wouldn't recommend them but I have a bunch of those spare and pretty much like new).

And in some case it just cheaper to buy an actual an actual film or a 3 set film box or TV series

It's a while since I've used them but for 4-6 & 7-10 way case "Dragon trading" on Amazon or ebay (price do vary between the site so worth a check on which is cheap for the one you want).
But again it can vary on how many your wanting and what kind.
