Good to hear everyone is doing well. :thumb:

I applied for a higher possition about a week ago and just got the feed back from it. They've decided they can't consider me at this time because I've been ill for three seperate periods over the last 12 months! Which sucks ASS!

I hate the fact that I have no control over my sickness time etc. Basically they've said I can't be ill for the next 6 months if I want a promotion. This is fine by me, however it's not like I get to decide when **** happens. I wish I wasn't so unlucky.

*flings himself dramaticly onto a sofa and sobs*

If you've been to see a doctor each time you've been off and had a sicknote on one occasion you can contest their decision. As a sicknote means the GP has said you should be off work, not your choice. also if you've gone to see the doc and had a prescription that's good too, just bring in the medicine and show them the date and that'll prove that you tried to remedy the illness and that you weren't just bunking a day off.

When it comes to arguing, i'm more than efficient in finding ways to fight back :p

@Tachi: Believe me, I challanged it. All they said was that at the end of the day, they decide who get's promoted and they would always choose the person with the least sickness no matter what the other person was suffering from.

It's evil but there's just no fighting it. They can hire who they like... that's why their the boss. ¬_¬

My friend used to work at the starbucks I use to get my morning coffee before work. One day I pick up the phone to speak to another brazilian friend and as we started speaking in portuguese she interrupted me and said she was also brazilian.

WRT to my professional contacts, I just go out there and try to meet as many people I can. It has always paid off for me =)

You might want to go check with CAB, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

If they said absenteism, it's fair as it's meant to be a performance metric as well. But refusing to promote you because you were sick is discrimination and you can sue their asses easily.
 
@Chaos: It's possible but as most woudl agree. It's hard enough finding work as it is never mind risking your present job. I should be in the Union really, but I think their crap.

Last eps are always that rare treat... How'd you rate the series, Mono?

I'm never going to try other shopping strategies again... Going shopping at 2 places is a right pain, and today was worse when I felt tierd since the morning...
 
Thank Mono for the rating. Just read the Wiki/ANN descriptions, and it sounds like something similar to Kanon. May be an intriguing prospect.

As long as Argentina and Germany los, I'm content.

As a matter of fact, I always liked the dutch team and the last time they beat us in a world cup was 74, so I guess it was about time :(
