The General Conversation Area

Aw, man. ☹️

It was his genuine panic that got to me. I mean, imagine having to pick up your severed thumb and rush to a hospital...

Oh god.

I genuinely worry sometimes, because *touches wood*, I've NEVER broken any bones or had any horrific accidents, and I hope I don't! I hate hospitals, and the only true operation I've had where I went under general anaesthetic was to remove a wisdom tooth. I was SUPER scared; I'd never had an operation and the next thing all these nurses and doctors are surrounding the bed, it was awful...I cried...

I was 24 at the time!

Glad you're feeling better today, Aya.

I forgot about the rugby. Will need to check the score...

I'm fine today likewise, thanks. There's a film on at the cinema tonight I'm going to see; it's called Traces of Sin. It's showing as part of the Japan Foundation tour.

Thanks dude :) Usual aches and tiredness, coupled with the frustrating job search...

Glad you're well too. I hope you enjoy the film! Is it live-action or animated? Either way, it'll be a cool cultural experience! Did anyone catch Gary Numan's performance last night on The Old Grey Whistle Test? Dude's still got it! Man I'd love to play in his band...

I think there's still a second-half to go. I'm not a fan of the sport myself but my folks always watch the 6 Nations A.K.A the time when the TV get's yelled at more than any other time!

Yeah, me neither. Touch wood.
*taps head* 😛

Funny you should mention your wisdom-tooth op: a MAL friend of mine had hers taken out a couple of days ago. Hope it went okay.

How did yours go, Aya?

My operation went okay actually. I felt groggy afterwards. I did have an infection shortly afterwards though. It turned out that the instrument used to keep my mouth open had caused a friction burn on my gums, so it had swollen and gone a bit gross. Nothing some antibiotics and antibacterial mouthwash didn't cure though!

and like that you guys have convinced me to stay in. I'm not fussed on rugby but the entire town loves it, which means like 10,000 people will be kicking off.
I've had to have a permanent tooth removed so it wouldn't mess up my face. why? I still had a baby/sweet tooth when I was 12, I was ment to get a false tooth to replace it but... it never came loose it's still there!

I've never gotten into the sport. I've tried watching it but, I just can't really enjoy it!

Yeah, it was why I had my wisdom tooth removed. It would have caused damage either to the tooth in front or to the tissue to the back (I forget which), but the only option was to remove it!

Oh god, that sounds awful. I've got a bit of history with teeth myself. I needed braces when I was a kid, but needed to get some teeth taken out first because there wasn't room for them all. One of those was a molar that had grown in completely sideways. That one was a toughy to extract: the dentist had to lever himself against the chair, and even then the tooth just broke in half leaving the root still in the gums. It came out eventually with a fair bit of pulling and twisting.

As for the film, it's live-action. This'll be the first time I won't be going to see the anime film in the lineup, because it's Sword of the Stranger, which I've got on BD already.

So, yeah, how's the job hunting?

Your teeth clearly object to being removed XD Sounds like quite the ordeal; glad it was sorted though. Yeah, aren't braces fun? I had them too, but not the usual kind - one of my front teeth was growing out, so to pull it back in, I had a metal clip thing attached to it's front, and one attached to the back of the opposite bottom tooth, with a small elastic band attached to the clips. When I opened my mouth, it pulled on the top tooth to get it back into alignment!

As for the job hunting, it's...yeah, it's exhausting. I'm just not having very much luck right now if I'm honest. I'm doing everything I can, but to no avail. It's just very frustrating. I literally live but 5 miles away from THE LARGEST industrial area in Europe, and 3 miles from the largest town in North Wales, and there's just absolutely nothing! I know I'm not going to find anything graphic design related; I've accepted that now, but even regular jobs just seem so hard to come by. Whenever retail jobs come about, they're only 8/12 hour contracts - not worth me getting out of bed for! Added to the fact that right now, I don't have access to a car, so I have to consider the practicality of the commute, which rules out some jobs I'd otherwise be able to apply for.

I do hope you enjoy the film :)

Yeah, same here: rugby's too stop/start for me. I like my motor racing; that's always in motion.

(Well, other than for a few seconds during the pit stops, anyway!)

Don't blink or else you'll miss the pit-stops! I think the season starts next month doesn't it?

Yeah I think that's part of the issue with rugby; there's no constant flow. Then again football can be like that if you've got an incompetent ref handling the game and a bunch of players falling to the ground in am-dram fashion...

Reminds me of that Simpsons episode.
Oh no... Which one? (He asks with trepidation.)

It does, yeah. The first season with the new 'halo' head protection fitted to the cars:

Oh, yeeeah. Not being able to eat anything more solid than soup was just great.

Haha, it made me chuckle though :p

Ugh, I am REALLY squeamish, so the sight of blood and ligaments and all that stuff is just...NO! Must have REALLY been painful though, poor guy!

I'm not bad today thank you ^^ Not been feeling great over the past couple of days. Managed to get out for a walk today whilst the weather was decent though so cleared my head a bit. Yourself? :)

Also, congrats on the rugby so far (not sure if you watch it at all but since Wales lost to Ireland lost my family have been cheering on the Scots; I think my Dad scared the dog at one point...)

Hope everyone else is well here too!

*Badum TSSCH* XD
So I shouldn’t tell you about that time I cut my foot open ripping the skin down then wiggles my toes to see the ligaments move? That was pretty interesting. On a side note, it didn’t particularly hurt. Until I rinsed the wound, put in a bath and then turned the tap on. That came sharp.

Oh man, nasty XD I''ve had curry for tea I'd rather it not make a reappearance!

Hope you're well :) Who's the avatar? It's befitting of a progressive beared cult leader!
